Hypnotic Metal

Maybe I made this genre up...any metal bands that leave you in a trance-like-state when you listen to them? Im sure there are some avant-garde bands.....

an example would be Arcturus - TSM album - songs like Nightmare Heaven and Aa Absurdum - specifically the 2nd half of these songs....they have very odd timed hypnotic drum beats with catchy vocal and or guitar parts....if you know these songs, u know what I am talking about.

So are there any recommendations?

Ved Buens Ende I suppose. Maybe Pelican and other bands like them, for example Isis (haven't listened to Isis myself though).

Saint Vitus-Born Too Late, I dont even know what the hell he does to his guitar on that alnum. It sounds like a dirty, scratchy, fuzzy, warm wah, but it is great.

Mithras. They mix in ambience with death metal very well and hardly anyone seems to have heard them.

i have heard mithras...have their newst album....not bad but not really what im looking for.
