It's a .45 Glock 21:grin:

There have been 6 break ins on this 2 mile road that my studio is on this week alone, so i figured it was a good time to get one.

how many of you guys have guns?

I own a Remington 878 express (20 gauge). My brother also owns one and also a ruger 9 mm.

A buddy of mine, who I lived with for a while, kept a baseball bat and felt safe enough with it.

However, I feel there is nothing more reassuring than the sound of a pump action shotgun.

^LOL

Naaah its some delusion with the 2nd amendment protecting you from 1st Marine division rolling in and taking over your lives.

But seriously, nice pickup - even nicer desk! When were you gonna fill us in on that one buddy??

Just to bring the topic in to the right mood .

I have a very bad experience wich involve a friend and his gun, if you ever need to use it : always shoot to the legs.

I can only imagine a studio being robbed when no one is there. In that case the gun wouldn't help much, would it? :)

I was going to say this. To protect your home it makes total sense, but has your studio ever been broken in when you are actually there? Or will you hook it to a wire that's hooked to the door handle so it will shoot when the door opens

The thing is, i'm always at my studio, and i can't set my alarm while i'm inside because of my motion detectors, as well as bands going in and out throughout the night. I figure the alarm protects my stuff while im gone, and my gun protects me while i'm here.
I'm just lookin' out for me 'n mine:dopey:

but in all seriousness, this city is supposedly the "meth capitol of alabama", and drug addicts are known to do some desperate things for drug money. I feel a lot safer knowing i can protect myself and my bands if someone decides to break in while i'm here.

btw. i'll post something about the new desk later. My old rack screws didn't fit my new racks, so i had to order some that fit. No sense in posting a pic with all my gear stacked on the desk like a n00b

I know (of) some less-reputable fellows that live around my neighborhood that own guns (of course illegally) and frequently get into all kinds of shit. I was thinking about getting a gun actually, here in Sweden you need to have been a practicing member of a gun/target shooting club for at least 6 months (which is no problem since I've been shooting since I was a kid and love it) and get a license from the police (along with gun lockers and all that jazz). + The gun itself will probably cost like three months salery, which I'd rather spend on gear anyway. :D

that is why so many american's own guns hahahaha

I walked into the gun store, went to the range in the back, tried out the Glock, gave the man about $450, and walked out of there with the gun and two boxes of ammo. All this while never having shot a handgun in my life(until the shooting range of course).

That being said, he did have to "contact the FBI" with all my info before being able to allow me to leave the store with the gun.

i once did foh at a club working with the house technician. after we talked a while he showed me his gun...
he said there have been some serious problems in the past, he likes to protect himself...
this is just not for me. if i needed a gun to protect my studio id probably move away ;-)
im glad you would actually never need that over here, and the reeperbahn is not that far away from were i live.

id rather get good insurance for the money i had to invest in a gun. hehe.

nice desk btw. !

Heh, congrats for the new purchase! :D Like Unavoidable said, it doesn't work quite like that here either. You need a license and a certified locker to keep the gun in, and you must have been in a shooting club/hunting club or something to buy one. And if you shoot an addict breaking into your house, you're going away for life :goggly:

It's the same here on all counts.

If you so much as touch the person breaking into you're house you can go to jail.

Yeah, according to the law in Scotland, if you leave the front door open people can take a nice walk around your house and theres shit all you can do about it, its not even a criminal offense unless they take/break anything and even then if you go at them you can still be charged for assault/whatever.

ive always been a fan of knives. ive got several different ones that i've picked up travelling.
although a gun has that certain feeling, i just can't beat having a piece of nice cold steel.
