I bought a gun today.

I'm a fan of leather whips, khaki shirts and fedora hats myself. Really practical for self defense.

:lol::lol::lol:

not a gun fan myself dont think id ever own one but id rather shoot someone than stab them if i had too, where i live is a bit of a scum hole but never nothing more serious than fists if it comes to it, it may be my two fists against 6, but fists none the less

Speaking of safe in a european city... Last night (well 1am this morning) I chased a fucking oppurtunist out of my front porch and down the street... wish i'd fucking caught him!! then again i was barefoot and stark-bollock aside from my boxer shorts...

I suppose the fact that guns are as available here makes me glad cause it means he wouldnt have one...

I'm a fan of my fists for self defence...although it's a bit shitty against a gun or a knive, the last self defence course I've done is allready back quite a while...
Still, nice Glock! ;)
Would never get a gun myself though

It's not the first time a gun thread shows up in this forum and this is something I really don't want to understand. Wow nice. You have a gun. Now you can kill someone. Congratulations. And all this "I NEED TO PROTECT MYSELF". Come on. Get a baseball bat, some CS... I really hope something about guns will change in the near future. I don't know anyone who even considers getting a gun. Pretty much a good thing.

This is a huge culture thing...

I can understand it a LITTLE bit.

If I see junkies with 12 cm knives lurking around and huge bunches of dudes with blackjacks then I do feel a little different.
But I'm with Emdprodukt pretty much on this one.

There are other ways to protect yourself.

The fellow bought a gun because his studio (where he spends most of his time), is in a drug-riddled area. I highly doubt he bought it to toot his own horn and is interested in killing someone.

If you think drug addicts, gang members, etc. aren't willing to kill someone simply so they can steal their shit then you are sorely mistaken. I see it every single day at my job. This may not happen very often in Germany...good for you! I, however, would rather have that line of defense available if such a situation presents itself.

Baseball bat is no match for another dude with a gun.

What I don't understand is why the Euro-libs don't avoid gun threads if it makes them feel so uncomfortable. Every single gun thread derails and turns into a thirty page shit show, lol.

Don't get the gun anxiety - just beacuse you own a gun, doesn't mean anything bad will happen? Just so long as you and are responsible about it - there should be no issue.

Brian - nice score dude. Go back to the range and get in some practice shooting - you will better your shot, and it's really fun. And, of course if someone does invade while you're there, make sure you crank out a few warning shots first!

Last but not least - don't let anyone you deal with know you have it, and keep it locked up at all times. Not saying any of the bands you deal with would steal it, but - you can never be too safe. And besides, if it isn't locked up and someone does break in while you're not there - they could take it and that would be really bad.

Definitely a culture thing. I wouldn't expect many of you Europeans to understand the gun culture in the US, because you are so used to the complete opposite.

What I don't like is the constant overtone of arrogance from many on this board when they argue against guns.

It's not the wild west in every US city with people walking down the street carrying M16s and grenade launchers. I live in a pretty small town with not much crime. The only real crime we have spills over from neighboring ghettos. Neighbors house was almost broken into once, in broad daylight. Deli I worked at on the corner has been broken into 3-5 times, lol...only because of easy access to the goods.

We're also not all gun-toting rednecks who would shoot the first thing we see entering our home.

but in all seriousness, this city is supposedly the "meth capitol of alabama", and drug addicts are known to do some desperate things for drug money.

Is this "the" meth capitol? I´ve seen a documentary about "the meth city" sometime ago about a city on the USA where meth was a huge problem, and had all kinds of white trash cooking their own drugs on trailers and stuff. It was pretty creep, all the folks with weird teeth and stuff.

Well, what Jarkko is describing will happen in the more liberal states here as well. The "castle clause" utilized in many other states is a completely different story. :D

true to an extent ... I don't know how Jersey is but here you stand to open yourself up to a world of legal hurt if you just try and pop someone in the arm or leg ... fuckers can and will likely sue you for pain & suffering and all that shit however, you drop 'em for good and as long as you can prove forceful / illegal entry of some type you're pretty much in the clear

I don't own a gun yet. My wife is from germany and shares a lot of the same views as some of the other europeans on here. I told her as soon as we get our own home I'm buying a gun. She didn't argue. We don't live in a bad area by any means, its actually quite nice but the more seedy parts of the city have been creeping their way further and further north every year. I'd rather have a gun and never need to use it (hopefully) but I will if I need to

Yeah, pretty much the same in Jersey, although proving that is tough!

Well said too dude. :D Owning a gun won't turn you into a bloodthirsty monster, contrary to what some on the forum think. ;)

Oh, and going to the range is fun as hell and a great stress reliever.
