I can't believe there isn't a thread about Peter Wichers rejoining Soilwork on here..

AWEHGAWHGE;OIGAHEG;ILAWHGEWO'IGAWEO;IAHE'OIGHA;OIHGE;OIWGAH;OGIWHA;O YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS HE WAS MY FAVORITE - seriously, his solos are some of the best I've ever heard in modern metal, I rank him right up with Alexi, Jani Liimatainen, Petrucci, etc. as my biggest influences in soloing. Fuck yeah, there's hope for that band after all!

What "piss me off" is Daniel Antonsson leaving the band :(

...who? By process of elimination, was he the bassist? Cuz like anyone gives a shit about the bass in Soilwork

Oh wait, nevermind, I just looked - he was only the guitarist for freakin' "Sworn...," so who cares? As long as Peter is there, the solos will be awesome, so they just need a second guy to play second fiddle to the master himself :heh:

No, guitarist.

The bassist looks like a strange cross between Varg, Santa Claus, and the Caveman from whatever commercials have cavemen, and is much sillier than one would expect a metal bassist to be. And I don't think he's going anywhere.

Jeff

Soilwork's bassist is a super cool, friendly guy. My brother and I chatted with him for a long time after their show in London a couple years ago, and then when they came through Seattle last time (with Throwdown), he totally remembered us and was eager to talk again! He was definitely kind of bummed about the current state of Soilwork (neither original guitarists), but obviously with Peter back, Soilwork is going to get a huge infusion of ass-kickery and I'm excited to see where they go!

Flink fucking owns.

Super cool guy, I've talked to him at Soilwork shows a couple of times. And a great bassist!

Saaahweeeeeeeeeet!

"Dear Fans of SOILWORK,

Let me first of all say that I'm incredibly grateful for all the amazing feedback and support that I've received since my departure from SOILWORK almost three years ago.

When I left SOILWORK I was at a place in my life where I felt burnt out on touring and I needed to get my life into a more stable situation. I needed to do something other than SOILWORK, perhaps explore more diverse styles of songwriting and musical journeys. Therefore, over the past few years, I've been very focused on production, songwriting and family, and have had the privilege to work with some amazing artists on some really cool and rewarding projects.

During my time away from the band, my good friend Bjorn "Speed" and I had always kept in touch and maintained a great friendship. We recently spoke about working on a possible musical collaboration, and that's when we started toying with the idea of me perhaps returning to SOILWORK.

I needed some time to think about it, but after careful consideration I've decided that I still have tons of enthusiasm and creativity to contribute to SOILWORK. I have a lot of love for my brothers in the band, and I would of course be honored to once again share the stage with the greatest metal band in the world!

So it is with great honor that I now announce my return and 110% commitment to SOILWORK. I guarantee that we'll bring forth one hell of a show and write the best album in SOILWORK's career.

See y'all out there!!!!

Yours truly,
Peter Wichers"

Now all they need is Ola Frenning and Henry Ranta back, and all's well.

And Carlos Holmberg... honestly man I am just happy that Peter Wichers is back, and I'm very interested to hear how their new guitarist from the mighty SCARVE will influence their music. I think the current lineup is awesome. Soilwork's always had lineup changes over the years but they have stayed consistently the best band in metal with each release, always outdoing themselves.

I'm very excited for this new chapter. Obviously Ola Frenning was a very important part of the band, but so was Wichers and they did an amazing album without him.

I am a little bit put off by some of the fans who are immediately jumping on the MySpace page comments and asking for the entire "Natural Born Chaos" lineup to return or something, it's disrespectful considering how much these guys have contributed to music without ever asking for anything in return. It's not like they're selling millions of albums, they're doing this for the love of their craft, and it's not an easy life.

I enjoyed the album they did without Wichers roughly as much as the previous two they did with him (that is, about 10% as much as I enjoyed Steelbath through Natural).

I would have much more enthusiastically greeted news that the guitarists who left Soilwork (Pete & Ola) had formed a new project together. Now I'm wondering if their "musical differences" were specifically with each other -- like Wichers only likes the idea of being in Soilwork again now that Frenning is gone.
