Let me dumb it down for you, professor:

FV agreed and cited dream theater as an example of this phenomenon. So, in essence, FV said that DT are a talented band, but their music (the product) is shit. Since JP is in DT, he is a part of this talented band whose music sucks, and therefore, he is talented, or "the man."
Is that so hard to understand? If it is, I'll illustrate with an example that may be closer to home:
Person 1: "All the members of CoB are incredible, but unfortunately, the music sucks."
Person 2: "Yeah, but Laiho is a good guitar player."
Person 1: "...yeah, that's why I said they were all talented..."
Person 2: "yeah and...."

Let me explain some things to you. You can say you don't like Dream Theater (or any other band), but you can't call it shit. Because first of all they're technically not shit (in fact they're one of the best bands there is), and second of all, if they were shit nobody would be listening to them. I hate tham with death metal fans, everything that isn't death metal isn't god enough for them. Excuse me for saying this, and bann me if you wish, but just think - which is easier, to growl or to sing like LaBrie/Allen/Turunen etc?

At any rate, I hope you arent refering to me with the last question because I am a huge power metal fan and like everything from Blind Guardian, to Falconer, to Dream Evil...while Tarja's vocals and those of LaBrie dont interest me, it doesnt mean the only thing I like is death metal vocals

psht. nevermore is one of my favorite bands. that guy doesnt growl. i listen to a few powermetal bands here and there. just becuase i think DT sucks a fat dick doesnt mean im some kind of death metal elitist or somthing. i listen to so much besides metal anyways. so shadup.

well you accuse us of being deathmetal gutteral vocal only loving people and its just not the truth. many of us dont like DT, that doesnt mean we hate all 'clean' singers and prog/powermetal.
