the reasonable answer would be, who gives a rats ass about what everyone thinks, just like the music you like and fuck off.... i'm a huge metallica fan, always was and always will be. i like Load and Reload, just not as much as the older albums. half of you stupid bastards in here agree with me, but dont have the balls to admit it, just being stupid pussy posers by tryin to get the majority of people to think they're cool. i'm a fucking Metallica fan and they are one of the most successful American bands to ever surface out of Metal. is it wrong for a band to experiment with their sound? hell no it isnt! Loomis did with his 7 string, and it turned out good... dont bash Metallica for trying something new with the Load/Reload sessions. As stated before by all current members of the band, the next album will be heavier than Load and Reload, so don't go saying that its gonna suck, because you arent Metallica, and you arent in the studio with them to know what the fuck they are doing... as for Napster goes, boo fucking hoo, the big bad 'tallica boys took away your file sharing service... NO THEY DIDNT there's better programs out there than fucking Napster. I'd do the same fucking thing if I was Metallica! Overkill and Testament have been around almost as long and are still playing great, heavy music. Age is a stupid argument. I have no problem with experimentation, I have a problem with releasing lame, sucky music that appeals to people with little to no musical taste and abandoning the fans who got them to where they are. Metallica were dead to me long before they cursed our ears with Load and Reload. The whole Napster thing was just icing on the cake. How can you listen to MoP and AJFA, then the black album and tell me with a straight face Metallica didn't sell out? When the black album was released, I thought it kind of sucked, but hoped it would grow on me, which it didn't. Most of my friends liked it much more than I did, so I was never simply following a crowd. I hoped it was just a fluke, so I listened to Load when it was released, only to discover that they had gone even more downhill. I'm all for musical evolution, just not devolution. Metallica evolved up to and including AJFA, then went back on the musical ladder to a level just below Kill 'Em All, then kept going backwards on each subsequent release.

I agree...I'm a tallica fan as well...sure their recent stuff hasn't been too good and stuff...but, still. I like them. And they used to be insanely awesome. And...for the record...don't make fun of them. One thing I like about I.E. and Nevermore fans is that there isn't really any hate on the board...you can say you like a band without getting cussed at and stuff. Well, I guess that's out the window. well I used to be a metclub member too...I've quit because I think it grew a little over their expectations.they couldn't keep upwith the amount of fans...it took months to get you a copy of So What magazine and so...but you get every penny worth I believe.nice t shirts and stuff...I also had the opportunity to meet them (or at least J,J & K(irk!!) ) they seemed very nice though there's the distance because they meet hundreds of people almost daily so...I thuoght it was very cool the way they reacted.you can have a lot of fun with james!Lars must be the only real asshole.He had a mountainbike 'accident' and couldn't meet the fans...but I think he faked it.

I do prefer their old stuff but the loads aren't that bad.
S&M was very disappointing but the 2 new ones on it were good.
Kamen should have sticked with the original melody-lines.

Thats why Ktulu sounded good on S&M, because Kamen only added texture type things to that song rather then whole new lines. I think The Thing That Should Not Be, Battery, and Of Wolf and Man, didn't sound terrible, but I can't really remember because it's been awhile since I've listened to it.
