Yeah, but that's just like how the V30s in Mesa cabs aren't quite V30s either, but they're close - still, good of you to mention that dude, cuz I have heard that while they're similar, the Marshalls are a bit brighter than a standard V30 and the Mesas a bit darker

Hmm, two awesome tones are immediately coming to mind that are Marshall JVM through a Mesa OS cab w/ V30s - the rhythms on Opeth's "Watershed" and our own Felix Neumann's stuff (check out www.mypsace.com/actofrage, the first song that should play is "Gunman's Poem," which IMO has such an awesome organic crunch). I'm not disputing that 75's *can* sound good, but from all I've heard (I've never mic'ed one up), I prefer V30s, as do the majority of modern metal engineers and speaker cabinet makers

I just hated my gp1k, marshall ,buddah (everything a plexi shoulda been) through v30's but my 5150 and RM100 was sexual through them.

Anything with V30s is pretty much a recording standard; Framus/Harley Benton if your cheap, Marshall 1960AV/BV or Randall XL if you're medium, and Mesa if you shit money (at least outside of the US hehehe)

Naw, the real snob would be whoever comes in and recommends an Orange 4x12 with Vintage 30s, since they have become far more expensive than almost every other V30 cab lately But IMO, they are the best sounding cab I've ever heard.

sorry to bring up this older thread, but has this shootout been done? can anybody link me to it? Going Mesa Standard 4x12 myself so either the Angled/Straight!
