IMHO I'm not there yet... I think I have a Miss Clairol girl or something though! Yes, I did a about a bjillion brush strokes on the hair...

I have a lot to do yet (plus I need to get to work on the body again), but am I even remotely close?

Post opinions please. Criticism welcome!

Well, seeing you people are too skared to reply...

I have another one to make you flee in terror with -

This portrait is still very rough, but far enough along that I'm curious as to how it looks...

That's why I said rough. I've only 'roughed in' the mouth area... still need do some work there. Jojo has some pretty intense concentration going on in her face when she plays...

Wow Mr.Toast! You got some cool skin texture thing happening there in these! Impressive work! The hair is very cool! Like them long eyelashes on Jojo!

Thanks Linda! Still a LOOOONG way to go, though... I'm going to miss the New Year's Eve window on this project I think.

Looks great, Toasty! Are you doing these freehand or getting the basic sketch off a photo?

I am picking out a photo that best fits the pose I will need (these are for a bigger piece), and then using that as my guide. However, there is no tracing involved (in this respect I am starting from scratch, if you consider that freehand), so sometimes there is a lot of 'nudging' involved to get proportions right later...

These are of course done 100% in Photoshop 7 (gotta love all those brush options!)

Admittedly, a harder way to go about it, but I want to get really good at this!

Thanks for the comliments!
 :D

At least it's somewhat close to what Jen looks like. Don't mind the hair - it's not done yet...

note: the site server locked just after I uploaded pic. If you can't see it; apologies...

I'm getting a little better at this I think... those of you that see this face everyday, any suggestions?
:p
