I was just wondering...

almost half a year has passed since the release of "Origin", and borknagar.com is still in the "Epic" theme. so i won't expect them to update the Vintersorg website either.

I think it's a really bad marketing move not to update the sites. It should not take more than a few minutes to post a few sentences on the status of the new album for example.

well there isn't that much to update...but this is not the problem
it's like azor said about the borknagar site...origin is not on their discography
but i guess you can't update everything when having so many bands on your head...there's a new waterclime getting released in june, there's cronian.
thoughi would expect the two "central" bands ie Vintersorg and Borknagar to be promoting and giving info about their upcoming/latest album.

On the note of websites, am I the only person who really dislikes flash websites? They're flashy and pretty but good old html and CSS is the way to go, less lag and easier to navigate, and can do pretty much the same as flash websites.

I doubt there will be an update. We saw how long it took to get this one up anyway.

Im with you on the flash sites. I hate navigating them. Such a pain..
Some of them can be pretty cool though.. but i still prefer html:)

i hate flash sites too
html is way easier and faster to create and you can get one just as cool as a flash one if you know what you're doing.
hell if i knew anything about building websites i'd build a new one for Solens Rötter myself off course i would need to have the album first...sothe site would be compatible

Give me a cup of coffee, a folder full of metal and a long warm night and I could have up a beautiful up to scratch website by sunrise. I'd love to do it, even for free, I need to build up a portfolio for when I get off my ass and get my freelance graphics design stuff up and running. I doubt Mr.V loves me enough though.

No it's not but it's still a pain in the ass to do anyway, at least to do it well. There are only a few web designers I've seen and actually enjoyed, since a lot of it is very generic tabled crap or pretty flash without any help at all.

Html and CSS only sites are baby stuff really. Most of the best sites on the net are either done with some Java Script or Flash. Most web designer charge about 1000+ Euro to make a site. So you can understand why Vintersorg mighten be updating his website anytime soon.

I don't think creating a new site with every album is necessary. In my opinion it would suffice to post some news form time to time. It's sad that the current site doesn't even state the release date of the new album.

the design doesn't have to change...but putting another picture for a new album under discography seems mandatory...so is announcing the release under the news section which takes no more than ten minutes if you have a lot to type and type very slowly.
I want to see the lyrics for SR god damn it!
it's less than a week to the release

i blame myspace for the lack of updates. solefald for example has completely given up on their official website. i mean, how cool was the old site, in the 'Pills' theme, or the newer one when In Harmonia Universali was released.. they were awesome.

anyway, i actually like flash-websites. as long as they're easily to navigate through, and you don't have to wait each time for a lame intro and enter your birthday in order to gain access..

Seriously that's alot easier said then done. Have you taken a look at the java script for that site? Nothing against Mr V but I doubt he knows java script so he'd probably have to ask the person who did it for him to update, since that's how it usually works. And they'd probably charge a few hundred for that.
