Well, the really-really-really good and expensive syrup here is the one that manages to be pretty sweet but also very light in color (more like a honey). As a result, the lighter colored one is usually prefered to the more cooked and dark one, so what's in the can is probably the middle quality one that usually still a pretty slightly nutty and golden color and not as sweet as some you might have tasted.
 
Sometimes when I was younger, dessert was simply a bowl filled a third with syrup and a few slices of "wonderbread" type bread dipped piece by piece in it.... awesome memory right there...


Now I am hungry, damn you!
