Iced Earth Detroit report.... FIX YOUR BROKEN CRAP!!!

The ONLY one allowed to state that claim is Swordlord. And if any EVER challenge his claim, DEEEEEAAAAAATTHTH!!!!

"Death by hair-flail," muttered the detective digustedly. "You see it sometimes at metal shows. And the occasional sweet mills video shoot."

Ripper is worthless BRRRALOW 4 LIFE. LONG LIVE GOD.

Wow. He might not be your choice, but "worthless"? That's a mite strong.....

Yeah... i'm not a fan of Ripper Earth as much, but worthless? Hell, I bitched more than anyone when he was confirmed to join the band and I bitched more than anyone upon release of Glorious Burden and Framing Armageddon, but he's a fantastic singer. He just doesn't at all fit Iced Earth. Stop bitching and listen to Winters Bane: "Heart of a Killer" before you make such stupid claims.

Oh, and while Barlow is a superior vocalist, I prefer Gene Adams (no joke). That guy fucking owned.

Roger thinks it was Jon's amp causing problems, cuz it was too hot and way overpowering in the mix, and he was getting undesirable feedback every time he stopped. Not musical, usable guitar feedback, the sqwauking screeching kind that says TURN IT DOWN!

He wasn't using a JVM, was he?:lol:

(Seriously, I love that amp .. make love to it whenever I get the chance .. but it can be a finicky, loud, noisy little bitch, and I like poking fun at it once in a while :loco:)

Zach, you prefer Gene Adam? What part of his non-melodic, half-Quorthon/half-King Diamon delivery do you like? I've come around to at least enjoy and appreciate the first album for what it is, but I think that Barlow took those songs and injected far more memorable melodies into the vocal line (that apparently Gene couldn't handle).

HORSE SHIT. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "MY SPOT".

Fuckin snobs.

I totally agree.....as of late at more and more shows I have seen this happen. Somehow overnight there is this new trend where people can stake claim to invisable parts of a club and no one is allowed there.....even if they walk away to get a drink. I always love that when someone walks away and comes back 10 minutes later wanting the same exact spot. Even at a packed show. This isnt the opera where you have assigned seating. this stuff drives me up a wall.

I'll tell you something that bothers me. I like to be up front for a show that I really want to see. I'll get there early, sometimes hours early. Then before a band goes on, there's a guy (or girl) who I never saw outside in line for the long time that I waited to get in who comes up to me, taps my shoulder and says something like "Dude I've always wanted to see this band. They're my favorite! C'mon, bro, can't you just let me up to the front for them?" No. Fuck you. I waited in line for hours, you probably strolled in 30 minutes after doors opened. If you wanted the front so bad, you would've done what I did to get up front. That drives ME up a wall.

First off, like I said there's absolutely no debate that Barlow is the superior singer. I want to clear that up (even though it seems like you got it heh... Just never can state some things enough on a forum). Gene actually reminds me more of Tim Baker from Cirith Ungol than quarthon/king diamond, though i get the comparison. I just like the raw energy he has and his approach to the songs. I find him a lot more interesting.

Hi guys. Just saw the show in Montreal yesterday. The set list was pretty much the exact same as Detroit, so I'm assuming that's what they'll be playing for the whole tour.

I had a few issues with the setlist. The first few songs were Blah... High Watermark, in my opinion, is NOT a good song to play live. It actually bored me slightly. If they'd replaced it with Dark Saga and Question of Heaven (I mean, seriously, what's the point of having Barlow back if you're not gonna have him sing this?), I would've been a happy camper.

Aside from that, I'd have to agree that there was a bit too much new Stuff. Shockingly, the song of the night was Dracula, which was AWESOME live.

Another thing of note... while Schaeffer was singing Stormrider, a shirtless drunk fan ran up to the stage and spit right on him.

He cut off MID-SONG and started screaming at the guy, calling him a drunk hick cocksucker. The guy tried to run off, but the CROWD stopped him and started beating the crap out of him... They then bodysurfed the guy onto the stage where Schaeffer spit on him like 8 times...

It was NUTS... and AWESOME. I love this town :D

EDIT: Oh, another thing to note... Strangely, on a lot of the new stuff, Matt sounded like he was either having trouble, or the sound mix was bad... because he got drowned out on a lot of stuff. This never happened with any of the older songs. It was weird.

I heard on another forum that they played Curse The Sky...I was shocked to see that, can anyone confirm? Sadly, I won't be able to catch IE this time around...did Jon mention anything about a 2nd leg in the US? Hopefully they'll play in Grand Rapids again, there were no sound issues at The Intersection.

Gee Nate, that's too bad. Guess I'll have to give you a detailed report when I get back. :headbang:

I'd be way more happy if they just stuck to the setlist from Chicago Powerfest. More Barlow tunes. It'll be bittersweet to hear so many Ripper tunes sung by Matt. This scares me.

My band, DEMISE AWAITS was the last local opening band in detroit.
Hopefully some of you guys caught our set!

and yea, the sound guy tried to cut us short after our 3rd song!
but fuck that we were promised 20+ min set..so that's what we played.

He was pissed and tried bitching at us..but i told him we were promised that amount of time and thats what we played.
So to the douchebag sound guy at Harpo's....SUCK OUR FUCKING BALLS!

and then Iced Earth...holy fuck!! what a show!!

Barlow sounds better than ever!!! His highs are glass shattering!!!!

Iced Earth forever!
