If anyone needs a smaller practice amp...

i havent heard these yet, what do you think of them. i've seen them on craigslist for about the sale price they just posted. so hopefully those used prices should drop down to around $350 or so, which is a pretty good deal for a 2x12 or head. just wondering if its worth it or not. i dig my vetta, but am curious as to what these are like

I have the 1x12... I like it enough to pick up a second one for jamming reasons... but I am on the same boat with you, if I can find one used I'd probably be more inclined to pick it up over a new one...

Honestly, these things are awesome for just about everything... there are certain style of hi-gain tone you wont want to record with this, but for just about everything else, its awesome...

I took this thing to a gig in a club and it was louder than the drummer... then they made me turn down =(

It does sound better with the master up higher and the channel volume lower, e.g. pushing the tubes...

I wouldn't use this as a main rig, but its definitely an awesome backup/practice thing...

cool man, good to know! FYI, there's a number of these in the 4-500 dollar range for the 2x12 at the moment on CL, including one with the short board for $500. i'll probably have to wait a couple months to cuz i've got some other things prioritized at the moment. but i'm hoping come late fall, early winter, these things will have dropped even more in price and should be steals!

Not long ago I was looking to buy an amp and considered the spider valve 212 but the only responses I got from anyone on here were that Line 6 sucks and spend a bit more for a better amp.
Are you able to use.... dun Dun DUN!!!!!!!! patches? or at least create your own tone banks?

I dunno, I'm not sure about these - tbh, I think they're a bit overkill for a practice/live amp (I've used a Crate Flexwave 120 and a Line 6 Spider III 150 Head in LOUD practice environments through my Mesa 4x12 and had no trouble getting a full, balanced tone that worked in the mix from them), but they don't sound good enough for recording IMO (so sick of Line 6 sounds :erk: ). Personally, I'd go for a used Recto 4x12 (or some 2x12 with V30s if funds are tight), and get one of those two heads for live playing and a Tiny Terror or Rev Jr. for recording!

I'm going to have to -1 that one man.

Line 6 spider heads are TERRIBLE amps. Flexwave, nothing more than your average Crate tone.

What can I say, they don't sound mind-blowing on their own, but I used each a couple of time on multiple occasions through my cab, and got 'em to sound decent and certainly adequate to be heard in the mix! Have you ever actually played one, or just heard them tweaked by idiots who have no idea what they're doing? ;) And furthermore, it's all about weighing your budget - I'd rather get one of those for my live amp as opposed to a pricier Spider Valve, and use the money left over for a decent small tube head!

Tbh... whatever you're looking for, there is going to be something better than a Line 6 choice nearly 100% of the time. I can vouch for the Blackstar HT-5 as a recording amp; it's really REALLY good. I sold mine, and have been regretting it ever since. The reason I sold it was because the clean channel doesn't have quite enough headroom for gigs or rehearsals. I'm gonna buy another at some point.

I've owned a Spider III, worst buy of my life, sold it to a friend for some quick KASH. If you want a good live sound for cheap get a Roland cube 60, or SOMETHING that's not a Line 6 amp. Their only good amps are the much more expensive ones.
