I had friend how tried out months ago, and he said exactly the same thing. Tim is an amazing and professionally trained singer (shit-hot guitar wiz too) and he got knocked back. He said everyone he knew that did get through were Craig David wannabe's.

I never thought I'd say the US version of anything was more credible, but take a look at the guy who won the second series of American Idol! Massively overweight black guy, who has an incredible voice! They judged it on vocal talent alone, and the right person won in the end!
