3: reinventing the wheel by trying to get the music as metal as possible with these few instruments. a lot of, but not exclusively, clean vocals, let's say like on arcturus - the sham mirrors.
on the other hand, try to write mean, chilling, intense songs which still can be very slow.
4: nothing about religion or politics. dark, moody and disturbing. lyrics to think about.
5: i'd really like to do the piano/singer part if i could do it, but based on what i can i'd have to stick with the drums.
6: had to be someone who can totally live for a band, in which case i'd choose villain probably. on the other hand, to entertain the people and keep the forum's off-topic section growing, maybe thanatos or dark_jester would be better. i'd guess i would ask all three of them

heavy bluesy rock and metal We'd play some songs in the blues rock style and others would be metal. Why limit ourselves to one genre?

depressing lyrics concerning death, love, depression, addiction, and other dismal themes. Really gloomy stuff.

Sing, maybe play guitar badly (I still haven't learned). I'd also use my status in the band to hit on guys from death metal and black metal bands we'd tour with, eventually ending up with someone.

Hopefully cool people who would respect the band, its members, and music. And would be open-minded and tolerant of others and their tastes... Fans like the cool people here.
Also to add variety there'd be the people like the dmb fans who'd start trouble and would criticize every aspect of the band. I'd draw the line by requesting them to be banned from my board if they insulted my guy otherwise I'd leave them to bash me and everyone else. There'd be only a few of them, and most of the fans would be cool.

A bunch of normal people who listen for the enjoyment of music, and don't follow trends and what not, but of course, my band wouldn't be a mere trend.

dark and heavy music: I'd blend the gravity (grave tones) of Doom with heavy, mid-tempo to fast, melodic riffing and the bass would be actually audible
vocals: not clean, but not too unintelligible either; the listener should be able to still understand most of the lyrics (like Matte Andersson from Godgory) [or Taneli Jarva I still don't know if he uses some device for his vocal performance or not...]

Ok, this is opening up a can of worms...
First of all, the band would be called either 'Deus Ex Cathedra' or 'Crimson', although I'm open to other suggestions

1 and 2. How many players, and what instruments?

Well, there'd be me on lead guitar, a second guitarist, a bass player, drummer, keyboard player, singer, and then occasionally I'd require the talents of an orchestra for the more epic songs. So minimum six.

3. What kind of music? (try to make the description accurate as possible)

Tough one, but it would be a mix of my influences of melodic death, power and progressive metal.

4. What kind of lyrics?

Probably along the lines of darkness and very grim in outlook, but there's where my power influences come into play, kinda along the lines of 'yeah, things are bad now, but we're gonna make em better'. So upbeat, but in a dark n moody way. Just like me

5.What would you like to do in that band?

Lead guitar player, as well as the writer of the music. Of course, lyrics would be left to the person singing them, as long as I was allowed to give input now and again.

Melodic epic metal. In the songs I've recorded so far, the songs go through transitions that change as the lyrics repeat. The music will largely speak for itself, and the lyrics will be only enter at certain points to get a few messages across.

Very deep lyrics which are my analysis of emotions and societal ideas. The style would be similar to Stanne's. It would be a mix of death, black, and clean vocals.
