I'll start the Ballad thread!!!

Hey whatever songs that you like that are very emotional... How's that? It can be blues to Rock N' Roll, to Iron Maiden of course....

i was just considering this.... there's alot of blues tunes i like but i wasn't sure if they fit in that catagory. the dictionary said basically if it's a narrative poem and also of romantic or sentimental value then it's a ballad. so would you consider fade to black a ballad? i would say it's sentimental and narrative - and it's got a killer solo \m/

I still wouldn't. It's got ballad parts in it, but to me a ballad is a song which is slow all the way through. I agree about the solo - it's amazing. Hands down, this is my favourite song of all time. Anyway, going by that idea I could probably scratch A Tout Le Monde off my list since it's kinda the same sort of arrangement as Fade To Black.

i love them they are amazing the armonizations and the piano parts, i have just heard the 4 parts and i am amazed. i will buy a cd of them when i get some money.

Oh, and I don't know if it's a ballad but Laid to Rest by Sinergy is brilliant too.

Regarding X Japan, I wonder if they've done any sound tracks for Anime movies? They sound familiar.

Not for any in particular but their music gets used for that type of thing quite often so that could explain the similarities.

That's the kinda defination I think of when talking about ballads as well.
