It's not necessarily crap, but hey, it's Arcturus we're talking, and this new opus is just so bland and sleep-inducing it would be suicide to listen to it while driving.

I like it how you all judge this kind of music by listening to it only 1 - 2 times? Its ARCTURUS dammit!
Anyway i bought the album yesterday and i listen to it all the time. Its Arctur-ish for sure, its their more melodic than their previous efforts. I only know i like it very much.
And there is no doubt that Garm is a better singer than Simen. Thats just a fact.

As much as I love Garm and believe that Simen is wasting his talents in Dumbass Borefest, this still pisses me off...when will people realize Sverd is the real catalyst behind those albums? And I agree that judging it early misses the point of Arcturus, that said I'm a bit disappointed by what I've heard so far.

"Hibernation Sickness Complete", the first track, is a song-of-the-year-contender. Awesome. The rest is, like many others correctly have pointed out, so-so. I hope it'll grow on me.

Shipwrecked Frontier Pioneer is freakin epic

in fact I think all the tracks are great, up through 4.. after that I get bored really quick, then Hufsa kinda grabs my attention again briefly, but just enough to make me realize the album's almost over and I've slept through the 2nd half.

but with each listen a new track has grown on me.. so maybe it'll take 5 more listens to get accustomed to the second half

It certainly is an album that requires a certain mood, I couldn't listen to it anytime - but hey, this is Arcturus. I like the fact that it's different and doesn't really fit any category.
