I'm starting bass guitar lessons

I didn't say every instrument and all the good musicians i've ever spoken to have said "you learn more in half an hour with other musicians than you do in years of learning from books".
I didn't say you did ;)
I was just further clarifying your point

LOL, Sorry, i find this thread pretty funny..

Profanity, you're a fanny, but best of luck to you man.

Bass isn't hard at all. Learn to read tab. Sit down with a tab and just read it and play it till you've got it. That's how i learned guitar.

Don't pay for tuition...

Yea I did exactly the same thing....just do tabs.

Tried all that.

You are still missing my point.

I need a definite structure which I am unable to provide for myself. I need someone to tell me what to do, monitor my progress and make sure i'm going in the right direction. I need experience with other musicians.

Teaching yourself works for some people. Some of my friends have learned Piano to a very high standard by themselves whereas some people need lessons. If you can't understand then please don't give me advice on how to teach myself.

This thread has become a Stab Profanity thread.

I wanted to share some good news with you and thought that you'd be pleased that I am going to have something to focus on. It will get me out of the house, make me more focused and interact with other musicians. When I do it from home I can't focus, I have noone to tell me where I can improve. If you're not going to show me any support then get out of my thread and don't come back.

come on Profanity! don't be such a wuss, you know we're mean to each other here all the time, with no exceptions, and I don't see anybody complaining, except for new people who don't know how the deal here is.
