I'm starting bass guitar lessons

Classical thump and Me and My Bass Guitar is Wooten at his best. But I can't stand slap for too long, it gets annoying after a while. Only bass oriented band I can stand for long periods of time is Primus.

I agree

I disagree.

I love you.

Its alright to start learning with, but I do agree with you.

use a pick to start off with. Then move over to the better sounding fingers.

bollocks to you, son again. :erk:

Hang in there man, i know how its like, all these guiatrists with their egos and their "im more important than anything else because w3 pl4y t3h m41n b1t!!111", honestly the Drums and the bass guitar are the backbones of any band. thats why most of my friends are drummers (^_^)

i would recommend Victor Wooten's video, but it's way too fucking insane even for experienced players

I got 2 victor wooten videos. Both ended up being the same Wugly White guy. And he put the camera up ner his face to get a better shot of his fingering, and you can hear his heavy breathing over the bass :(

Sheehan proves that slapping isn't what bass is all about... Which a lot of people think that it is.... If that makes any sense.
it doesnt really maters what technique you use
technique = option of self expression
its the story you tell with it!

for example Billy Sheehan as much as i love him but his solos are fucking pointless, you watch him with this face :OMG:
and say fuck is it really possible and the next day you don’t remember a god damn thing, even not a single motive
from what he playedon other hand Victor Wooten that guy
besides the fact he has crazy techniques he knows to solo!
he has phrases in his solos and that’s
something you want or not you remember it.

This thread has become a Stab Profanity thread.

I wanted to share some good news with you and thought that you'd be pleased that I am going to have something to focus on. It will get me out of the house, make me more focused and interact with other musicians. When I do it from home I can't focus, I have noone to tell me where I can improve. If you're not going to show me any support then get out of my thread and don't come back.

Interesting, when someone fucks up HIS thread he finally starts crying.
