IN FLAMES Clayman Re-recorded 2020

I definitely remember Anders getting shit online for his dreads back when he first got them. At the time a lot of people were labelling them sellouts and the Jonathan Davis-esque dreadlocks only added to that shitstorm. Personally I thought the dreads suited Anders.

As far as the band's dress sense during that time goes, it was often stupid but I always figured it was being done somewhat ironically. Especially the [Link]In Flames t-shirts and the shirts & ties. Anders did have some really weird clothing choices around the Come Clarity touring period though :guh: and obviously the hipster hamster look is lame AF.

As for Anders - I'm a regular attendant of metal gigs and the guy's really good with the audience contact, which cannot be said about lots of them. He's not Bjorn Speed in terms of singing, that's one thing, but the way he connects with people is on a different level, which is something you cannot appreciate looking at YT videos. I'd say he's on the same level as the typical comedian guys - Chris Bowes from Alestorm, The Dreadnoughts vocalist, Skindred guy, perhaps Powerwolf as well. From serious metal, I only remember Hansi Kursch being reaaaally good with reaching out to audience. On the opposite, Stanne, Tomi from Amorphis, Niilo from Insomnium - they never gave a shit about any audience contact, at least in my experience - they were just there to play their shit.

That doesn't make him a good frontman.

I really like this song. Just saying. I only noticed today how every chorus is slightly different, Anders doesn't sing it the same at any point which is a really cool little detail.

02:54 - 03:15 - how did we go from this to the drudgery that was Siren Charms and Battles? I don't get it.

Relistening to this recently it's interesting how Anders' vocals actually aren't that dissimilar to ASOP, with that same half-scream half-yell thing going on, but because the overall production is wider and more powerful it helps support the vocals rather than making them a bad focal point.

I love this song, Intro is great, the verses are interesting and flow different to most modern IF, the chorus is strong, and it's one of Bjorn's best solos. There is a definite technique change in Anders' harsh vocals after this album.

If making people have a great time on a gig is not being a good frontman, I don't know what is.
Then I'm a good frontman. I cannot sing. And have zero vocal skills. But I can make people have a great time.

You're aware you don't have to be vocalist to be frontman, right?

So, if you're drunken, I can steal your money or kill you and is your fault? I'm packing my bags right now.
I already mentioned willingness. And nope, stealing and killing is illegal. Sex is not.

I was thinking about him . He actually got so mad that he left. That's our slave. Making people mad since ever.
He came back talking about some live shows. I always liked him, so the hatred was never mutual. He just got a short-fuse.
Why are you keeping on with this behaviour when I asked you to stop? Are you willing to put the board into that situation?
Lmao why are you telling ME this? I'm not the only participant. I'm merely replying.

Yeah I can remember him posting full psychological thesis' on why Slave was a narcissist and all around terrible human being :D then Slave changed the text under his avatar to 'Narcissist' just to make sure the trigger was fully pulled. Some cold Hungarian trolling for sure.

25th of july as a digital EP we get the 4 re-records and new instrumental, then the remastered Clayman 20th anniversary edition is 28th of August.

Not really. There's no obligation to get both that and the full 20th edition album.

It's just the same as individual digital singles ahead of an album like how they did with The End/The Truth, I Am Above and House.

I wonder if it's a newly recorded instrumental or something from the Clayman sessions?

Also the inside of the booklet or whatever it's called looks pretty cool.

Also found some more info about the instrumental thing, which to me is good news, it said:
- New instrumental track titled “Themes And Variations In D-Minor” composed by Johannes Bergion, guitars by Bjorn Gelotte. Recorded & mixed by Roberto Laghi.

Johannes Bergion is the same guy who wrote the violin etc parts for A New Dawn. So it might have a classical feel or influence to it maybe?

Well it does say guitars by Björn Gelotte. It definitely doesn't sound like it's going to be something like Dialogue with the Stars, more like something with acoustic guitars and whatever Johannes has come up with. I'm not gonna say I'm hyped as fuck but I'm definitely interested, I don't feel like IF has disappointed much with instrumentals
