Well, to put it in simple words - the guitar sound on the last couple of albums lacks definition, and the overall mix is quite muddy. Their production nowadays is much more... pop-like, and therefore a lot more accessible for people who arent into the whole death metal thing. This is especially noticeable on ASOP.
But that actually started on Clayman, when they started to use drop tunings. Really low tones (A#, even lower on r2r and later)) with that traditional IF's insanely scooped tone... Certainly not the easiest job in terms of getting definition and clarity in the mix Its just that Fredman knew how to get it right
