In Flames -Sounds of A Playground Fading (Upcoming 10th album)

The watermark thing, how does it really work? Do you actually hear the watermark or is it hidden in the soundwaves somehow? Thats what I really wanna know! :)

My understanding of it is they put information, such as a person's name and address so that they can trace it back to that person if it leaks, in the file. You don't hear it, it's just encoded in the file. But I've read that while it is more difficult to hack and get rid of the watermark, it is potentially more dangerous because now hackers can have an interest in just hacking the files for the information (the names and addresses and such) instead of the songs themselves.

A really fucking short studio thing from The Resistance:

As a side note, I clicked on their myspace page (which isn't really operational yet) and the only thing that stuck out was an add for Glee on the right. Talk about out of place...For those of you not familiar with Glee, it a piece-o-shit show in the US where the cast sings shitty songs for an hour.

Anyways, this clip is interesting. Good drumming, couldn't really make out much else.

Yeah I know, and I do again, even though I shouldn't because I cba taking it further.

You were making ridiculous statements, you basically gave exaggeration a whole new meaning.

No

Generally, No.

Possibly, for deaf people that is.

Would have to say No about 99%.

A definite No.

Again, when you make ridiculous statements I think it's fair to disrespect you honestly.

If that is what you call criticizing In Flames :D
I would call it freedom of speech used in a stupid way, but still, freedom of speech.

Realise that most people posting on this forum are people who prefer the Older stuff, hence the reaction.

Read above.

Anyways, my take on Enter Tragedy lyrics:

Twisting tongue
Fallen off the edge again
Need some space
Need disgrace

I'm confused
I'm i...

I need for you
To pick me up
When I fall down

There's so much more
We can go far
But I can't control my selfish ways

Enter tragedy
Slash my soul
Why is it part of the plan?
Do you question me?
I question you!

Who's the man in front of me
I'm blindfolded I can't see
Need a reason ... ... empty

There's so much more
We can go far
But I can't control my selfish ways

Enter tragedy
Slash my soul
Why is it part of the plan?
Do you question me?
I question you!

This inner apathy brings me to life
I know it's strange and it's draining me

I'm tired
I'm fed up
I'm a slave

I'm tired
I'm fed up
I'm a slave

Enter tragedy
Slash my soul
Why is it part of the plan?
Do you question me?
I question you!
I question you!

I'm pretty sure it's "I'm tired, I'm fed up of this life"

What I don't get is how some tracks are avalible in album quality and the rest is not. The only reason for this might be that the record company leak the tracks themself!? And of course it's harder to search for SOAPF when there is a track named the same which has leaked!

This is confusing me as well. Deliver Us is obviously the single so that isn't really a leak... but why have SOAPF, A New Dawn and Enter Tragedy all leaked in CD quality? I know two of those were played on the radio but these rips are from the CD, which means the full album must be floating around somewhere...

Am I missing something? That Enter Tragedy that leaked was a (really good) radio rip, not CD quality. Or it leaked as well (didn't saw one tho)

That is one sad, sad setlist. Why do they insist on cramming in as many 'video hits' as possible? The setlist is made up almost entirely of them. And nothing pre-Clayman gets a huge thumbs down from me. It's bad enough when it's only 1 or 2 songs pre-Clayman, but zero? What the fuck.

Sets like this easily remind me why I skip them when they come to town now. Sure, they're a good live band (minus the awful backing tracks that Anders needs to use because he constantly records things in the studio that he has no chance of pulling off live), but I've seen their show where the setlist is almost exactly like this about five times by now. It's bad enough that they seem to find it inconvenient to give a nod to Lunar Strain or The Jester Race, but now, as more albums come out, they can't give even give the nod to Whoracle and Colony?

Granted, this is one setlist, but does anyone actually think that a good amount of old shit will ever be present in one of their sets again? And I mean more than 1 or 2 songs. Short of them doing some kind of throwback mini-tour where they play nothing but material from their earlier albums (which would be awesome by the way), I don't see it happening. How are these guys not tired of playing The Quiet Place, Trigger and Cloud Connected by now? God knows I'm tired of hearing them, live or otherwise. They play this shit every single night and manage to keep their sanity. I'm impressed.

I've been saying this for years; if you want to play stuff from Clayman, awesome. I love Clayman. But how about instead of shoving Only for the Weak and Pinball Map down our throats, you play Suburban Me, Another Day in Quicksand or Brush the Dust Away? It's the same with any of their albums. Play stuff from RTR and STYE, but for the love of god, play some different songs already. Swap out The Quiet Place and My Sweet Shadow and play Borders and Shading and Evil in a Closet. Swap out Trigger and Cloud Connected for Minus and Free Fall. Just mix it up.

They're like the AC/DC of melodeath (former) -- you know exactly what you're going to get at an In Flames show. And that's not always a good thing.

I saw them in the Fall of 2009 and they played many new songs but also:

Square Nothing
Clayman
Food For The Gods
Embody The Invisible
Colony
Black and White

those are off the top of my head. They played Worlds Within The Margin in 2006 when I had last seen them before that. Honestly they choose some great songs sometimes they just need a better balance. I agree about switching more of the newer songs in and out with others from the albums as well.

I agree completely... the reasons for them playing the "hits" are obvious, to please their increasingly large fanbase - most of whom only give a shit about "the hits" and would shit on stuff like Jester Script Transfigured, Coerced Coexistance or Suburban Me. It annoys me that their setlists towards the end of recent tours seemed to be going in the right direction, but now we're right back to "DO YA WANNA HEAR ANOTHER HEAVY METAL HIT" ... for every single song. I'm hoping that set is just a warmup for their festival dates, where they'll obviously just play their hits.

i think you're right actually, sorry :D still confused as to how SOAPF and New Dawn leaked at CD quality though.

I would shit myself to hear those 3 song live!

How the fuck Suburban Me isn't globally known hit? It's not long, great solo, heavy riffs, addictive melodies, epic chorus...

Album will obviously leak at least a week before the release when they start shipping CD's to stores and people. But, I admit they are doing good job... Only a few almost intentional leaks, just to get different parts of IF fan base all fired up.

Well not exactly CD quality, it has some watermark in it, but yeah, it IS confusing. Someone who hacked into Century Media's files? idk...just a guess... All I know is that it always happens before the release, it could be that they have it on the Internet already but on a kind of "hold" until the release date.

but dude, after listening to the previews uploaded by this youtuber I'm more than just excited, I'm going nuts, just humming the short tunes Anders was singing during those 30 seconds of each song. It's driving me insane. "All of Me" sounds powerful, and so does "The Puzzle". "The Attic" reminds me of a nightmare I once had. XD

I could say that about so many of In Flames pre-2002 songs... it's the vocals, I think. As soon as people hear any screaming that's it, they're done. I kind of know how it is, when I first got into extreme metal I heard those screamed vocals and was like wtf. But I persevered mainly because I loved the melodies and music behind it, and in time learned to appreciate and even emulate the vocals myself. I just don't think enough people are willing to give those types of vocals a chance and as a result great songs with screamed/growled vocals will never get the appreciation they deserve.

How do you know that ?

When your listening a song in an iPod if you put the ear phone plug half way in, you can hear the guitar riffs and the choruses, in other words, everything that's in stereo. When you hear this, you notice a "water" sound in the guitars, hence "watermarked". In other words, you might hear the song in general in CD quality, but because the mono sounds like Bass, lead vocals, and drums, are not watermarked. If you hear "A New Dawn" in radio version, which is in mono, you don't hear the guitars much, because they are in stereo, and it sounds cleaner, because (like I said earlier) it isn't watermarked.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always noticed watermarks by doing that.

THE MORE YOU KNOW :D:D

Full performance of Deliver Us, also in great quality, damn those it sound massive live!

I don't like how Anders sang in this video, he did the first part nicely but he just lost it half way through the song.

water sound? lmao Here's a little description of watermarking, it's unhearable without proper tools etc.

"Watermarking, which uses a set of techniques to hide a message in a signal. Usually what you do is place a message in part of a signal that makes it inaudible but very hard to remove. There's an assortment of tricks for doing that. That's the essence of watermarking. And the message can say anything you want it to. Usually they're short messages that say one of two things. "

In this case it's probably something like "Property Of Century Media" or some other shit with and ID of the copy probably so they could track anyone who would leak the album to the internet.
