What is your general opinion of this album? Or the comic sans font on the cover? What do you give it out of 10?

very good but that is not comic sans

i'd give it 8.5 or something

i remember when metal was emotionally encompassing and passionate and exciting

9.5/10

It's hard to achieve perfection but boy does this album come close.

i am not buying them shitz ... can't even find a decent torrent ... must be a sham this thing i tell ya.

Lurch, you've made some atrocious musical statements in the past, but this may take the cake. you never heard this? fo real, dogg?

Anyway, 9/10. For me it's the top vertex of the holy trinity (which also includes "The Gallery" and Eucharist's "A Velvet Creation"). Top notch.

Maybe from a personal perspective, but for poetic-symmetrical-historical purposes, you've gotta swap out 'A Velvet Creation' for 'Slaughter of the Soul'. Eucharist had the misfortune of being too early (1993), and apparently not quite from Gothenburg. Check it out:

1995.11.14 - At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
1995.11.27 - Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
1996.02.20 - In Flames - The Jester Race

Three landmark albums out of Gothenburg all released within 3 months of each other, each representing a different corner of the triangle: the thrash, the prog, and the melody. Crazy. If I ran a record label I'd find a way to license these three albums and release some sort of fancy box set with an 80-page booklet rhapsodizing the genius the flowed through Gothenburg in autumn of 1995.
