In The Same Vein As D.T.??

KALMAH are slightly similar... well... its Melodeath, like DT, but it doesn't sound as BiG... you know? Still melodic fast and epic feel. Best album is 'Swamp song'

Also Defo check out MERCENARY. They are DTesque music wise, but the vocals go a bit Powermetally from time to time. The new album '11 dreams' I think its called has their most immense work on it. (You can download tracks at the links Ive left you for these guys.)

Another band who I can't be arsed linkin to are Omnium Gatherum \m/. these guys are something else. True beauty.

And another one is Skyfire. These guys have also been compared to children of bodom, but they are more chirpy and have more stand out melodies IMO. It's really good stuff. Try and download the track "Haunted by Shadows" from Mind_Revolution.

While Im here I guess a slightly more Black Metal version of Dark Tranquillity are 'Suspiria'. It's definately not blackmetal, its just Melodeath, but it feels pretty necrotic and stuff.

An American Metalcore band called 'Lillitu' have a sound pleasing to the ear of this DT fan. I'm not kidding you though, they are fooking immense. If I was gonna high-concept it I'd say they are a cross between Him and Godforbid. I dont like Him, but I love lillitu. Try and check them out. their new album is 'the delores lesion' and it is a true work of art. I bloody love it and they have similar melodies to DT for sure. One of the tracks sounds alot like Dry Run.

Anyway, all these bands are top notch. Anything by them you hear will be a delight, I guarantee it (if you are a DT fan).

I was going to suggest Lilitu (note the one "L" in the middle) as well. I wouldnt call them metalcore though. Their first two albums are epic Melodic Death while Delores Lesion is more straightforward Damage Done / Projector esque music. I hate comparing them to DT though since even though they are fans and friends of the band they get the DT and HIM comparisons in almost every single interview they do. Great bunch of guys and killer music.

wow. It's such a shame they only have such short samples on their site . Know where I can get more? Im pretty certain their stuff won't be available in UK's metal stores and I'd love to own an album by these masters of melodic deathmetal.

glad u like them, its a great liveband too btw (they opened the summer breeze festival last year on the big stage)... hm they have a label now, maybe u can order it from there or from the band directly? I know its really hard to get more or less underground stuff from austrian bands in other countries, sad tho cause we have a few really cool bands here ah here is the link of the label: www.scarletrecords.it (and hey they have hatesphere too... so who knows, next european tour of DT maybe with the Lords Of Decadence? )

and yes, nightrage is great too! and the "sweet vengeance" cover is still one of my very favorites (thanx niklas for another great artwork there!)

But I agree on Edge of Sanity! What I've heard with them is cool. The vocalist sounds very similar to Stanne from time to time.

I agree-Blinded Colony is very DT-esqe. Solid band that has alot to offer in the future.

Gates of Ishtar-damn, i didn't know anybody knew them! They were an amazing band-more blackend death ala Dissection, but still an amazing band. Everybody on this forum should have their Cd Dawn of Flames!

I agree, the name is kind of stupid but it's nowhere near the worst names

When I first get into DTs music, I asked this same ques?ion and people recommend this group and that one. Opinions But I found that no one is musically like Them. They are original, special, unique and have a sound that is all Theirs. Of course you can find many sounds like, but its not the same, and never will be.

yeah *lilitu. My keyboard may have been screwing up... and my eyes hurt... and I dont proof read... and *out of excuses* - oh, and I was trying to compensate for the starter of this thread having troubles spelling "tranquillity" (thanks for that one Rahv).

fairdoos that you are tired of hearing people compare them to him and DT, but the fact that I havn't read one review about them or heard any other opinions and still came to that conclusion kind of indicates they are similar... but ney, I understand... they have a distinct sound
