I think I'm just over working this song I've been mixing for a couple of days. I can't seem to make each track individual and clear. Anyone have any good basic tips, I think I'm losing my hearing

Yeah man, the snare seriously sounds like a plaster tub with that awful ring (and is too low in volume, as are the kicks) - I LOVE the guitar tone though! Which of your Engl army was this?

Here are some pointers. The guitars are a bit scooped,fizzy and lifeless. The snare is indeed a bit weird. You can cut some low mids from the bass. The mix sounds too compressed.

It actually sounds a lot better than my decription, though

Get them a bit quiter, way too loud I'd say. They bury the rest.

Love the tune man, i am a fan of the snare as well, i can see it's not for everyone but i think it does the job just fine.

I'd also say the guitars sound a bit "modelled"...definitely not bad though! I'd second abyss' opinion though, they could be a bit softer.

i would only tweak the snare, it's a bit harsh sounding. Like it cracks in an unpleasant way. everything else sounds top notch.

oh and it is revalver, but with my savage impulse. I think Im doing the guitars all over to get a better clean sound, noticed some clipping in the sound files

Guitars sound REALLY good. Perfect (this is Revalver? This is THE only Revalver track that I've ever heard that I like.. none of that nasally distortion, presets?)

Snare sounds too compressed on the main track.. I suggest backing off the compression to only a few dBs, then have another track highpassed at like 800 Hz compressed by like 8dB to get some good attack in there. Work a bit on the toms too, back off at 2kHz.

Sounds pretty fucking good (through my shitty headphones...).
A pair of things: try lowering the gain a bit on the guitars and rise a some mids... your impulse is pretty scooped on its own, so it works great with engl amps which are pretty middy, but with Revalver needs some tweaking...
The snare sounds good on it's own, but I think the reverb is making it sound a bit boxy, I would try to change it...
A little more attack on the kick would be nice for my taste (around 4KHz, not too much)...

Thanks. I'll try lowering the gain some. The problem I have right now is that the guitar sound does sound more artificial than real, maybe I just need to go back amping the real deal
