Interesting news

I think listening to too much Cradle of Filth has made him brain damaged.

Why couldnt the thread creator just post Mike's comments? Bleh. I'm not too eager to hear the result of this album now.

Yeah, the thing Im most scared of is Opeth trying to make a concept album out of material similar to Deliverance. I think that album really lacked memorable parts, it was just kind of a "hey, look at us, we like Morbid Angel, and we can also play on acoustic/clean guitars as well" album. I just hope Mike starts writing many more melodies and memorable parts into his music, that's what I think they've always been ebst at doing anyway.

filmscorish......that means it's going to sound like John Williams, and Michael Kamen. Not Deliverance. Think an opeth cover of the Imperial March. that's the ticket.

you watch too much star wars i think.

try ennio morricone, jerry goldsmith, or bernard hermann...then youll be closer to quality material.

"Some stuff sounds like feature film music, like a filmscore or something, other stuff is plain ol' murky prog rock, some hit songs, some blazing metal, some evocative melodies, some doom, some really fast off beat complicated prog metal!! We'll see what makes it unto the disc."

thats what i want to hear....diversity, and interesting contrasts. i have no complaints.

Or Dimmu Borgir. Or Cradle of Filth. Or x.

Where x, insert any number of cheesy, untalented bitchy bands who think they are "majestic" and "triumphant".
