Introductions

I'm thinking train ;)

Seems they haven't released the tickets yet though, something like 89 days in advance it was possible to book them via DB.

Train doesnt take me straight to my hotel, I'm freaked out about not finding it and I have issues with maps and asking for directions...I'm thinking I'll scream "TAXI! TAXI!" like a mentally unstabel woman when I put my feet outside the plane.

Train's cheaper though..hmm. I'll have to think about this. :)

I shudder at the thought! Of course I have scotch and coffee in my veins.
Did you read my sad sad blog on myspace about the death of my expresso maker? I cried, shook and could barely breathe! ~RIP~ :waah:
Goodnight I am silly.

 What a tragic story!! It just doesnt get more provoking! I shouldnt laugh, I've been there, it's everything but amusing!!!

I love maps and getting around cities on public transportation, don't like to spend my money on taxis :)

Have you found a good hotel/hostel yet?

Na, well, this week in bochum is gonna be my only vacation this year,
so I refuse to think about keeping the costs down, I'm to tired to bother. :goggly:

Heh, dont know if it's any good, but me and a friend are gonna stay at
Park Inn, we split on 524 Euro for six nights.
It's in the city and ten minutes by car (4-5 km) from the venue.

And you? Found any?

Haven't looked into much for accomodations yet, should start doing that soon :p

Just realized I haven't introduced myself in this thread, so here goes.

I'm Jan, or Janne, from Sweden. Living in Göteborg at the moment since 2006.
Married to Malin, no kids.
33 years old, been listening to heavy metal of some sort since I was about 7, though only really been into death metal and similar "more heavy stuff" since about 2000.

Part from metal I love beer; I brew myself, am a certified beer judge and write reviews on ratebeer.com

Of course I will travel to Bochum, even though I earlier promised myself I would not go abroad any more this year

Seen AA 12 times so far, though will see them on Unholy Alliance 3 in Göteborg before Bochum as well, so it's all good.

Good to see i won't be the only old fogey making the trip. I'll be 33 in a couple weeks myself. :erk: Ah well, such is this crazy thing called life.

Anyway, you piqued my curiousity a bit. How do you become a certified beer judge?

Hahaha... yeah i know, and i was actually thinking about mentioning the fact that both you and Phelice are no spring chickens either, but i didn't want to run the risk of getting kicked in the scrote.

GRR! I don't wanna be in my 30's!
WHAT HAPPENED TO 21???

I went to bed one drunk night @ 21 and I swear I woke up 30
=P

Ok, cuz you are a year quicker in the grave then me :heh::heh::heh::heh:

Sorry had to make my feel better at your expense

Actually, i'm pretty inured to the age-ist slurs these days, you anti-age-ite bastards:p . You see, I've been dating a 25 year old girl lately so i hear it all the goddamned time.

Don't forget about karma, Rhonda. ;)

Yeah, whatever happened to being able to drink several days straight or only sleeping 3 hours before work?
Ah well, maybe I'm just wiser or something :p

In Sweden the way of becoming a certified beer judge is through the Swedish Homebrew Association (Svenska HembryggareFöreningen http://www.shbf.se/ )

They hold a two day course every two years teaching you some of the secrets behind brewing, but mainly how to, in their opinion, correct judge and assess beers. Also they make you look for faulty scents and flavours and more.
After this follows about half a year of studies on your own before you make a theoretical and a practical exam.
If you pass both exams and then participate in a certifiable competition you may become certified yourself.

You need to be quite skilled in brewing though, as well as being able to judge beers rather well to pass the exams.

I know they have similar things in at least Denmark and the US, probably in more countries as well.
