Just before one of the industrial relations reform ads came on channel 7, so I switched to channel 9. The same ad was on there, so I switched to SBS, which featured another of the ads.

It's just fucking disgusting, and a complete and utter waste of our money. God living in this country makes me so angry these days.

I still want to know the people that voted the Libs in, no matter how many people I fucking ask, no one says they voted Lib...maybe they are all lying.

My question is why the fuck can't they leave a system that has proven to work without fault for something like 40 years....cunts

you're kidding aren't you?

The system we have is already fucked and allows the workers to be fucked over by their unscrupulous employers. On the other hand though, there was a story on news.com.au today about some wanker who would always show up to work blind drunk, and got sacked for pissing into a waste paper basket in the office... and he got 10k for unfair dismissal.

So, the current system is fucked. Useless irresponisible cunts like that can fuck their employers over just as much as my employer is fucking me over right now.

The new system though.... it's going to absolutely ruin a lot of Australian families.

Im open to anything Rob except Labour. But at this stage, I wouldn't vote for either Greens or Democrats. As long as Bob Brown is affiliated with the Greens I won't be voting for them.

By the way, Im not meaning to start a shit fight here :)

I've a question.. Why was it ok for the unions (thus, the ALP) to run anti-IR reform ads before the changes were even announced, and then wrong for the government to do the same?

Sydo,
the unions are doing it using money that was given to them by union members to represent their interests.

The Government is doing it with taxpayer money, and we already know they've taken $4B too much of that this year.

I've no problems with information campaigns to explain legislation after it's passed...that's fair. But to advertise their policies with taxpayer money before the event is just wrong.

If it was the liberal party advertising with their funds...no problem.

As usual, the Government is being deceitful in its campaign. The aspects of the cahnges they are focusing on as being protected by law, like being protected from dismissal because of family commitments, and having a union represent you at work, are ALREADY protected by law. It's the stuff they're not talking about, like the changes to working hours, penalty rates, leave loading and stuff, that people are concerned about. But of course, they're just going, well, you can't be sacked for taking a day off to look after the kids, so everything will be okay.

Mind you, some the union ads are a bit over the top as well. There needs to be changes so that bad workers can be given the boot. There are aspects of the current laws that force employers to hang on to useless, lazy and sometimes dangerous staff because there's virtually no way to sack them, and they need to be addressed. However, I can't see how some of the changes that are being proposed are going to help anyone other than employers. It's not worker-friendly legislation. Workers will be screwed, as usual.

What I ment by the system has worked well for 40 years is that the widespread changes the Government are going o chuck on are going to change a system, that even with faults, is better than what they want to do to us. They want a system more like the U.S. system, ask any Yank how they like it, last I heard there is virtually no room for sickies, or family problems, and holiday's are something like maybe 2 weeks a year, that is fucked

Not when you work in the state owned corporations.

All the drivers of a private company, all the red tape of a beuracracy.

Well... i work for a company that's owned by telstra, which is still 1/2ish owned by the Government, and I'm getting fucked over like a uhhh... I can't think of an analogy but I'm getting fucked over pretty bad, anyway.

Bastards.
