Iron Maiden at The Forum - 19th Feb 2008

Two more hours before the show. Started warming up with a bottle of Stella and the Maidens DVD.

Great show.
The most exciting part was running into Aja and Linda in Loge 29. So hot!!!

How does that FTTB thing work?

I understand that the winners are escorted inside to get right up front before the rest but do you have to hold that spot through the opening acts as well as Maiden? What happens if you need to go for a piss...do you get your spot back?

After you're in, it's your responsibility to keep your place. You can't go away and come back. Once you're there, you need to stay there or you lose your place. So piss before you go in!

Wow! What a night! Started out at the sound booth and decided to see how close to the front I could get - so started working my way through the crowd. It was pretty crazy in some places - at one point the crowd surge literally lifted me off my feet - but it actually helped me get closer! Ended up on Dave's side and ran into Pucky and Archmagician (and friends) there! The band sounded great and Bruce's singing was superb. Amazing show!

Cool Steve Harris moment: There was a little girl I remember from one of our swap meet shows who was up on her dad's shoulders the whole show. At the end, Steve handed the security guard his wristband and had him give it to her personally. She almost burst out of her skin she was so excited! :headbang:

Iron Maiden were phenomenal though! (Of course!)

I have a cool story to tell:

So I am working up in Oakland and I knew there was no way I was going to miss this show. I got an airline ticket to fly down on a 4:00pm flight. Literally at 2:00pm I was still in a meeting with an important client. I finally had to stand up and say, "I'm Leaving! I have a plane to catch."

So I run out of the office down to my rental car, jump in it and haul ass to the airport. about 2 minutes after I leave I realize that this stupid company made me hand over my Driver's Licenese to a get a badge to go onsite! Shit! I pull a crazy u-turn and go back to the office, grab my drivers license and head out again. Like a formula 1 driver I raced down the freeway to the airport. I park in daily parking, I dont care that its expensive I have a plane to catch!

So I am getting on the plane in Oakland and I see a guy sitting down wearing an Iron maiden shit! I decide to sit next to him (Its Southwest Airlines so choose your own seating). I ask him, "Are you going to the show?", he says "Yep!". So anyway we get to talking and decide to hang out. His brother is picking him up and he says they can take me to the forum. Anyway, met two new cool friends and we partied our asses off!

Then I ran into so many people at the show! Puckfiend and CrsCkum, Aja, Linda, Mark, one of the bands that I manage "Torman Maxt"...

So then I hit a hotel room at about 2:00am. I am tried as hell. Sleep for 2 1/2 hours wake up and get on a plane heading back to Orakland. I sit next to some dude who sees my shirt and says "I went to the show too!" So we get to talking and he has an accent. I found out he is from Turkey. Its gets wilder, we start talking about the Maidens (I bring them up to all Iron Maiden fans ;) ), and he says, "oh yeah my friend is on that board under the handle Asteroth!"

SMALL FUCKING WORLD!!!

Holy crap, how lucky was she.. DANg.. I probably would have pee'd my pants if I got that chance :) but then almost pee'd my pants at how close we got last night..

We were about 4 feet away..maybe two people between us and the front.

Nice one!! :kickass: I seem to have this knack for being able to get to the front as well. Like for Megadeth last night, I got there after the doors opened and the queue was HUGE but I still got second row practically as soon I got in.

Linda - great pics!! What a lucky girl she is!!! :headbang:
