Most of Americans are not aware what presidnets functions really is. He is just a figure, and his power is not in his position but what interest financial groups are represented thru him. The last one that was actually trying to do his job properly was probably JFK.

That used to be the case but now the president is the leader of america. Whatever party he belongs to almost always bows to his will and the media reports what he says as if it has already passed through congress. His word carries way more weight than it should and his supreme court implants have way more power than they need. But i guess in reality they are all run but the almighty dollar.

The President is only half a figurehead. The President is really supposed to be a person at the head who can lead, and guide the country on its feet in a time of crisis. When Franklin Roosevelt rose the USA out of the ashes of the Great Depression and fought in World War 2, he wasn't just being a figurehead. He was being a leader. When Abraham Lincoln led the Union through th Civil War, he was being a leader. There were some times when the President of the United States actually did something very useful. Unfortunately, we're not living undr a President who can be such a leader.
