Is GP Worth It??

if you don't want that realistic sound engine thing, you could have just not installed it with gp5 (it asks you if you want to during the installation process) or you could just turn it off when playing tabs

I was dissapointed with 5. So I still use 4. It's great and everything but the RSE was a big let down for me. It really does sound like crap. I have played around with it and tried the different guitar sounds, played with volume levels etc, but I am just not happy with it. When I play along to guitar pro tabs I play through my line 6 hooked up to my PC, through my PC speakers and it just sounds like crap trying to play along with a mushy rhythm guitar. I would say buy 5 and if you don't like the Realistic Sound Engine just turn it off, because 5 does have much better features/layout/appearance.

chances are your line 6 sounds like crap too... every line 6 i've ever tried sounds like its playing through a filter of shit, with horrible cab sim.

It sounds okay. It's a line 6 POD with the 2.0 chip upgrade. While I don't like alot of the tones, I have managed to tweak a few of them to my liking. They're good for recording but the behringer v-amp's are better IMO.

I have both GP 4 and 5,and I definately prefer GP 4. First of all as mentioned, the RSI sounds like crap on 5, secondly I have been using GP4 for so long that I just can't get used to playing along with a song and having to follow that red line. Overall it seems like with GP5 all it really had to offer was RSI and that was kind of gimmicky.

damnit. there always has to be bugs... i've been working on learning nevermore's ambivalent... and it gets to about the middle of the song then goes nuts, the notes don't end, they start going on forever. i had to go back to gp4 to do this... and the way to access the speed trainer sucks now. uninstall *click*

I liked Guitar Pro5...but i still use my Tabit, just soo much simpler to come up with riffs and write them down....but guitar pro will always be the best, especailly for looking at the timing of the tabs.
