is there any virtual rack?

is there any virtual rack that runs as a standalone application on windows or mac?

mac preferred?

just looking for something to toy around - i never came across one in my searches. i would use gearbox but it seriously colour's my tone when i do even with the amp and cab moddeling off. the tone just ends up sounding dead.

You mean as in DI ---> PC ----> Re-amp ---> amp ?

If thats the case all you need is the appropriate hardware and a standalone VST host or mac equivilent. They are easy to find, I dont know which ones work best, so I wont recommend any.
