Isnt it about time Anathema changed their name?

Surely though, people are listening to the music because they like THE MUSIC, so a name change (as long as the new name wasnt ridiculous) shouldnt be responsible for fans decicing not to listen to them anymore.

it might be a good thing, anything to get them well known, it's a disgrace a band like that don't get recognition deserved. It's an absolute hairy ass of a shit it is

I'm sick of this discussion. Where's the integrity in changing the name in order to make it big?

And Dunc, this hasn't got anything to do with "fucking disgrace to the name, reaped what I had sown, selling my soul cold, forging sound", I hope.

I had almost convinced myself those lines were only about Dave Pybus, please tell me they are.

If they change the name I'll keep on buying the albums for sure, but i don't see how they chould get new fans this way, so why bother changing it since the 'old' fans are used to the name and love it ?

well, if iron maiden changed their name to STORMEPIC after 'somewhere in time' and released '7th son' under this name, would you still have liked it? hmm. i dunno myself.

sure, but thats why they are still stuck playing festivals alongside the likes of Moonspell and co. when theres the potential to break to a wider (more musically compatible) audience. Do any of you get my point here or what?

yeah I do, but does seem Danny wants to change name does it? anyway if they did, and suddenly were classed as indie rockers, I guess it would mean their last 3 quality albums wouldn't count towards getting them noticed and they'd have to pull something special out again

Did i just type a load of shit? is that why no one is replying?

Usually, but don't let it dishearten you.
It's not the name needs changing, it's the database entry on the CDDB or Music Week Database, or whatever it is now they use for grabbing "information"... I mean, fuck, even Antimatter comes up as genre 'metal' when you read the CD into your iPod, like... that's worrying!
