Since the question is realistic enough, I'd say I'd turn time back, let them do the black album, tell Bob Rock 'thanks for the drum comp bye bye now', get Metallica in the studio with Flemming Rasmussen, Andy Sneap and Michael Wagener taking turns, and work out 3 more of each of the previous albums.. But make them even more metal.
