It's finally here!! Dual rec!

So how different are the Single recto's from the dual and triple recto's?? Because I found my Rectoverb to be quite brittle sounding, hence I shifted it and got my Laney, which is a far more superior amp in my opinion, and retails for a lot less here in the UK.

Yeah, that was my experience all the times I tried a Single Recto (and I spent a fair amount of time trying to dial it in with no avail) - however, I've also spent some time with a 2-channel Triple that was amazing, and so many great tones have been recorded with Duals and Triples, so I don't know how or why, but I'd wager they're pretty different beasts! (the only recorded Single Rec tone I can think of is Insomnium's "Above the Weeping World," which is NOT one of my favorite tones)

Yeah £1600 was the best deal I could get, and it was in my local shop... I've tried loads of places and they were having none of it, most just went for the list price! I'm gonna get the oversized cab sometime in July and that thing is gonna cost me £800/£900 (clear rip off, but oh well).
I was wondering what options would be better.. Bold or Spongy, and Silicon or Vaccum. I find this amp surely does not hide my mistakes (no more cheating!). It seems to be very clear and clean (not in a bad way), unlike the 6505's which seems to have more dirt. Any comments on that?

Whatever you do..when running the modern mode on the red channel on your 3channel Reco...DO NOT have the Precense controll past 10.00 o Clock...or you will end up killing yourself. You might wanna keep the treble at 11.30 at all times also. Bass will probably sound fine at 10.00 o clock...don't let it pass 11.30 o clock.

The TC Electronics Booster + Distortion pedal in "boost" mode with the "bass" set at minimum and level set at 03.00 o clock will sound even thighter then a tubescreamer. Do this with gain at 11.00 o clock. Most people likes to run the recto in "Bold and with Silicon Diodes and 6L6.

Hot damn, really? So is it a 2-channel with the tiny "Mesa" logo on the front like Lasse's? Apparently those are the oldest and best, very nice!

Here's my Dual Rec goodness as well as my Boogie .50 Caliber:

The Nevermore settings posted by Andy, as well as his tubescreamer settings, are about 95% of the tone I use with just some minor tweaking.

Oh, and to add something to the list of tips:

-Remember that the orange channel is just as brutal sounding as the red channel. The orange channel has this great Nevermore'ish tone to it(different mids), whereas the red channel has this brighter grind to it.

Some people are very stubborn about using the red channel only for their heavy rhythm, but when you are looking for that, like I mentioned, Nevermore type of tone, then use the orange channel because it has that similar growl to it when tweaked properly.

Of course the red channel is amazing as well, just brighter with a different midrange character so when you need that bright, focused tone, use the red channel.

Here are my towers of doooom

Completely off the Mesa topic.. but do any bands record with a Peavey 6505+ instead of the standard 6505 (5150's)? I always spotted the mk1, was wondering if that was the favoured option everywhere?

I keep getting a popping sound when i switch channels with either the footswitch or the rear switch, no idea why. Anyone have that problem before?
