I've been listening to early Maiden again lately...

yeah, Maiden bore me VERY easily, because they've stayed the same way for how long?

Sure, they're not pissing off fans by releasing the expected, but they're not really doing anything interesting. It's more like a fix... each album is a hit for the Maiden junkie.

But of course, I am but a humble Metallica fanboy, and I believe change for a band is a good thing :D

If I hear anyone congratulating Metallica for St. Anger ill tip a bucket of runny poo over their head.

Anyone?

Alright then.

No, I think they should be castigated for St. Anger. But they should be given something for actually having the hide to release it when it obviously wasn't finished. I think it was a case of putting themselves too far into the hands of their producer.

yea St Anger real blew. they used 2 b good, now they can just go hide themselves 4 that 1.

But Maiden is still Maiden, DoD isnt that bad anyway, BNW is a little though...

DOD is growing on me. I've always liked a handful of tracks (Wildest Dreams, Mr Rainmaker, Gates of Tomorrow, New Frontier, Journeymen) disliked most of the rest of the album... but it's getting better. Slowly. I don't switch off in disgust halfway through track 3 anymore.

I still really like Rainmaker, No More Lies and Gates Of Tomorrow!
I havn't listened to any of them in months though, so I guess I don't like them that much.

Paschendale would have been awesome if they didn't have the bass behind Bruce's singing during the quiet bit. That spoilt it for me.

I think Maiden's writing style has become more of a 'day job' for them. They've done it for over 20 years, it's natural to them, why would they change when it's going to pay the bills? Not that this is a bad thing, because many enjoy the music. Including them, it seems.
