JB (bridge) and Evo I (neck) on basswood Ibanez RG3EXFM1?

I've got the JB in one of my basswood ibanez. Its got such an excellent bite and sounds very organic in comparison to say an EMG 81. For leads, dare I say i'd choose no other pickup! I put a dimarzio EVO in the bridge of my strat (alder) which has a great sound, although i havent played it extensively it has a similar midrange I think. FYI the ibanez i have the JB in is paired with a dimarzio breed in the neck, and that complements it very well.

Really not a fan of the JB, very loose/flubby IMO; for that guitar EMG85 in the bridge/81 in the neck ftw, why use anything else?

Hmm. May depend on the guitars in question Marcus, but i've found the JB to be tight as a ducks ass (and as good as the 81 in that department). I have only played one fitted to a basswood guitar though. Any experiences your end?

Not in a basswood guitar, just in multiple mahogany ones (Fernandes Montery Elite, my Ibanez RGA321 when I bought it secondhand, some others I can't remember), but all equally disappointing to me I'm sorry to say!

JB's aren't the best in mahagony...a bit too loose/bassy. I pulled the JB out of my Blackjack for this reason and replaced with a BK Miracle Man, and I'm going to put the JB in my basswood Omen 6.

THe JB is a little bit loose in a mahogany guitar, but extremely tight in basswood. The only downside of it in basswood is that it can get a little shrill in the top end. I still live that pickup though.

Not a fan of the JB either, personally... Haven't tried it with basswood, but even on a mahogany guitar, I find the pickup a bit honky and ice-picky.

JMO.

The JB sounds like asshole in every guitar/amp combo I've ever heard it in ( alder, ash, mahogany, 5150, VHT, ENGL, etc... ). That said, a lot of people do seem to like it.

The Evolution neck sounds pretty cool in basswood.
