Jeff Loomis endorses Engl!!!!!

it makes me even more excited to hear a new record!

Just cause he endorses an amp, doesn't mean it is actually used anywhere ... many a time has there been a huge front of Marshall/Mesa/insert-amp-here rigs on stage and a little custom amp from parts-unknown in the back. Same for recordings and magazine articles ...

With ENGL there might be a good chance that it gets actually used, but with reamping being available these days, I guess it's very much up to the producer.

And Loomis wouldn't even have to lie when he says he played an Engl during tracking ... :)

I'm just a Krank basher, i've heard a few and can't understand what the big deal is. and seems like alot of their big metal endorsers are jumping ship now. I mean i've seen Nevermore live with him using (in order i've seen 'em) a POD/2:90, XXX, and Krank. and the krank sounded like ass to me. the last time i was drooling over Chris Broderick's tone even though Jeff Loomis is my all-time favorite guitarist.

I wonder if a lot of the Krank jumpers have anything to do with Jody Dankberg leaving the company and going to Randall. That's why Amott and Christian Olde Wobbers and a few others are now gracing Randall's ads and not Kranks.

He used a pod live?

On the DHIADW tour w/In Flames (who were touring for Clayman). It was into a 2:90 power amp, which makes a HUGE difference.

I was wondering about that, i remember the thread when Mike Amott joined randall. Are guitarist that inconsiderate about their tone? they'll use whoever gives them free stuff or puts their face in the most magazines? (i mean this a a general statement, nothin against anyone mentioned). It makes me wonder if i take my guitar sound too serious?

It's not so much about the free stuff (it's almost never actually free anyway) it's more about the support and backup a company gives it's endorsee's.

I've personally negotiated a deal with Spector but am not following through with it as I prefer my Warwick's to anything Spector does.

fuck yes

if some company was like "hey dude, we'll give you a free amp or 2 if you pose in one of our ads", i'd jump on it in a heartbeat

and if i didn't like the amp...i'd sell the motherfucker, and get something else

At least in Jeff's case, I would definitely say "no". Even just like 3 months ago, he was saying that he liked the Krank tone better than Chris's Engl. But, he also seemed to have a desire to explore other amps than Krank, citing the fact that he had never actually signed any paperwork with them and could technically "leave" them whenever he wanted. I've never heard him say a bad thing about the Krank people though, so even if there are some personnel issues within Krank, it has nothing to do with Jeff's situation...in fact, I remember him saying that he would feel bad if he "left" Krank, because they've been so good to him.

My guess is that when playing these recent Europe festivals with an Engl, he realized just how much he really loved the sound...enough so to jump ship. But that's just a guess.

his recorded tone usually had a rectifier in it somehwere no? if i remember correctly didn't andy say it was a krank rev1 and a dual recto??? or was that doomsday machine??? or both??? or neither???

I'm pretty certain that both TGE and Doomsday, were 2 tracks of a Rev and 2 tracks of a Recto.
