I could say the same for most pop (I can tell most males apart from females, but sometimes even that's a stretch), a lot of jazz (most of it just doesn't really blow my mind like hard bop and early fusion), a good chunk of the power/theatric metal I've listened to (I can tell Sonata Arctica by the solos and Blind Guardian by the chipmunkrape vocals, not much else), and a lot of the generic radio-rock.

I strongly doubt that gay has a thing to do with it. LOTS, remember Halford...

Im actually a huge death metal fan, but it is a simple fact that it is easier to differentiate between traditional heavy metal bands than the majority of death metal bands, especially brutal death/melo death and grind.
