Does anyone own one or played one. Im curious how these play an sound.Really diggin the black with the maple neck. Like the 81/60 combo too.

Pretty cool, but I HATE those bridges in that you have to adjust the height of each saddle, rather than just two screws to raise/lower the whole bridge. If you're cool with that though, I'd say go for it! It doesn't look like a set neck, though, which is surprising, given that some Tele's are, and you'd think Root would want it on his.

Has anyone noticed this:

Strings: Fender Standard Tension ST250L, Nickel Plated Steel, Gauges: (.009, .011, .016, .024, .032, .042)
(You have to click on "view specs" for this model on the Fender website.)

That's fucked up. . . 9-42 on the Jim Root signature. They better be kidding?

Oh no'z!!!! You might have to spend an extra £5 on strings!!! :p

Most, (read all) guitar companies do that regardless of the fact that most metalheads tune to Z these days, still, its kinda lame to supply it with pussy strings.

i'd assume that they probably slap the same size strings on pretty much all the guitars that come out of the factory, in order to cut down on setup costs/times

Well, you might have to spend a little more than 5 quid to set it up properly for drop-B playing (unless you set it up yourself). Yeah, sorry about the rant, I know why they'd do it (cost-cutting and stuff), but it just struck me as odd. :)

The Mick Thomson Ibanez comes factory equipped and set up for drop-B tuning. Why can't Fender do it too? :p

I think the majority of guitarists favor to get their guitars in E and setting them up theirselves.
PLUS: I think the Jim Root-Tele might also attract guitar-players that are more or less far away from metal and downtuning.

I definitly dig the Tele and I'm thinking about getting one of these in autumn. What do they go for in the US?

I love the classic, yet modern look of it. I'm a big Telecaster-fan (or: I'm a big fan of all the classic designs) and always wanted to have one with H-H configuration.

I played one, it has a (for fender) slim neck an plays very good (low action, without beeing set up).
Didn't play it through an amp though

Didn't try it, but I'm absolutely in love with teles, I've alway wanted to build a tele and a les paul jr. Classy and sick sounding.
Ah, and you just have to love the big ol' chunky tele neck.
About the tuning thing, I think it's just a factoy thing, but this is pretty interesting: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/document?doc_id=97674&src=3SOSWXXA
Jim is not a fan of the z tuning
Not a slipknot fan anyway.

Cheers

I love telecatsers but when i tried the Jr one I was really disapointed, the frets were really sharp on the sides, it's really body heavy and it dosent play that nice.

I'd rather get a U.S telecatser and put EMG's on it.
