John Arch - New album coming

met Arch at the Fates Warning Parallels show in Connecticut last year. Great guy, at the time he wasn't sure when or if he would be doing any new music. Glad he changed his mind!

Hell will probably need to freeze over first. I approached him in the past and didn't get a whiff. I couldn't even get him to come down for an all expenses paid cameo with Fates.

At the Fates gig in CT. I told him he should go up and sing "Guardian". He laughed at that thought..maybe because he knew that the band wouldn't remember how to play it?:loco:

false start.

new album/project now known as "Arch/Matheos"
Arch / Matheos currently tracking in the studio

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. " January 19, 2011 " Jim Matheos (current member of the progressive rock powerhouse Fates Warning and OSI) and John Arch (former vocalist of Fates Warning) are currently working together on a new full-length album that will be released in late spring/early summer via Metal Blade Records. The band, called ARCH / MATHEOS, began tracking the drums on January 12 and will continue to record through mid February with both John Arch and Jim Matheos producing the album.
ARCH / MATHEOS features an all-star lineup including the talents of Joey Vera on bass (Armored Saint, Anthrax, Fates Warning, Seven Witches), Bobby Jarzombek on drums (Halford, Fates Warning, Sebastian Bach, Riot), and Frank Aresti on additional lead guitar (Fates Warning). More details will be released over the coming months so be sure to stay tuned to FatesWarning.com & MetalBlade.com

I wouldn't call it much of a false start since both Jim and Joey were on the last album. With the addition of Frank it is almost a Fates Album of old. If only Zonder could/would have participated or even if porntnoy would play as he did on the last Arch album. But if you can't have Zonder or Portnoy, then Bobby is a great choice.

Cant wait for this!

So this is basically the current FW lineup minus Ray plus the old singer. I can't imagine this same band is also in studio cutting another FW album with Ray.

Sad news, I fear. I've loved the last three FW albums, and was looking forward to how they might build on FWX. But maybe we'll get another Engine album as a consolation prize instead.

Recording through mid-February...and yet 4 FW shows Feb 10, 11, 12, 13 in Europe...with ?Ray? on vocals live? Is Arch recording all his vocals in midFeb while the band is overseas?
