I don't get it. People flaming Bush for saying that downloading is stealing when the guy is 110 % right. To those people i will ask simple questions, do they walk in a movie theatre and refuse to pay for a ticket ? Do they go to Whole Foods, ask for chicken and then just leave ? I guess the answer is NO. So now explain to me why the fact of downloading a whole album is different ? Bush is right, he's an artist, puts his heart and soul into a record and doesn't get anything from it. Of course Internet is not to take all the blame on the weak sales of WCFYA, the record company is probably doing a lame job, and yes cd's are way too expensive but 30 000 units for an album that good is a damn shame and John Bush has the right to be pissed. Anyway serious music lovers knows well that downloaded music offers bad quality playback and will always get the real product. People should be educated as far as listening to music goes and get into decent stereo systems instead of listening on a damn PC. I have paid hard earned money to get WCFYA and i'm ok with it. And cd's are twice as expensive here (France) than in the US.

Yeah but the music belongs to us! We should be able to get it for free anytime we want to! It's ours!

I was being sarcastic.

Our society has become so affluent and plush people have forgotten what real poverty is. Megathrax or whoever's post complains some people can only afford to go out on the weekends. I'm sorry, but nigga please! Over half of the world's population hasn't even used a computer before, and he's whining about being entitled to go out more. Most of the world has no electricity, and he's whining about being entitled to download free music.

You may not know this, but the new album has sold less than 30,000 copies. Sales like this don't keep record contracts. If that happens to Anthrax so be it but losing sales because of downloaders is fucking lame.

Feel LUCKY to live where you live, and people should fucking stop complaining because artists want to and SHOULD BE paid for what they do. Stealing is stealing, period.

i think that you should be able to dl music and if its good you buyt he cd if its garbage you done, the only people that have anything to fear are bands like metallica that put out absolute garbage and if people hear it they wont buy it

How about lower the price of the cunting cd's and see if that cuts down the downloading, BTW i don't acctutally download cd's i buy all mine but still they charge to much!

Don't sony sell cd copiers/burners and complain when someone downloads an audioshit song or any music on there label!?!?

I have to admit that I do burn most of the CDs I listen to, I'll only buy it if I'm a big fan of the band and the CD is great. The only CD's I've bought in the last year are Degradation Trip, Audioslave, and We've Come For You All. All these bands bitching about downloading music act like the only way they make money is through CD purchases. I've spent thousands of dollars on t-shirts, concert tickets, posters, etc. so don't tell me that you're not making any money off of me just cuz I download an album every now and then. I'm glad I downloaded St. Anger cuz if I had bought that piece of shit, I woulda blown up Best Buy or something just for selling it to me. Another reason I burn CDs instead of purchasing them is because it's ridiculous for some bands to expect me to pay 17 dollars for a CD that's only like 40 minutes long and has only 3 good songs. If you can't record at least an hour's worth of songs, then I'm not willing to spend my money on it, it's gotta have quality and quantity.

I am on both sides of the fence here. Sure everybody wants something for nothing, but these guys who put their heart into the music want to make their money too... But what band ever got filthy rich from an album and that was it? The money is to be made on touring, merchandising, endorsements, etc. The things that the labels can't touch. Sure there are song royalties, but that's only when it's used to sell Nissans or cheeseburgers.

And nothing for nothing, but the entire economy is screwed, and sales are down for E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G! Sports tickets, concert tickets, phat Nike shoes, video games, PPV's, etc.

McDonalds business has gone down 2 years in a row... it's the 1st time in company history that has ever happened... you can't exactly download a big mac online. You can't go on a week long Disney vacation by joining a file sharing group.

The reasons why CD sales are low is because of two things... 1. There just soooo many choices these days compared to years ago... kind of like TV, remember the ratings the last episode of MASH did? No show will ever come within 20 million viewers of that ever again! Why? There are hundreds of channels with different things for different tastes. 2. The same reason why more than 75% of companies, and industries are reporting a huge drop-off in sales. The economy sucks big time. People don't have the money to spend on all things they used to, so prices go up even more, and people become less and less interested until they just lose interest all together.

My story is this: I consider buying a CD as my vote! And I voted three times for Anthrax: WCFYA!

While I no longer worry about paying too much for cds with excellent sites like www.theendrecords.com and others who sell cds for nice prices, I will no longer be whiplashed by a band that comes out with utter shit no matter how big of a fan I am.

I like downloading for the simple fact as I get to windowshop the music. If it is good, I will be more than glad to buy the cd plus I will scream down the streets of how everyone should get it.

On the other hand, if a band puts out a cd jumping on the latest trend or just puts out a bad cd they aren't getting my well earned cash. :Smug:

I download songs, but it's usually only one or two songs per artist, and it's mostly shit that at one point I had recorded off the radio at some point in my youth. I download to bring back my days of late grade/middle school!

When it comes to bands I dig, or think I may dig, I just trust and buy. And most of the time I've been happy with my purchase. I just bought the John Arch EP, and it fucking rules. I bought Vintersorg's latest CD without hearing any of it, but since I know his stuff, I know that it's gonna rule.

BTW, if you dig Vintersorg, he was on the last Borknagar album, too. And it's cool as hell!

The problem is the fucks that download every goddamn thing and havent been to a record store in years. As far as CD prices going down, theyll keep going up as long as people keep downloading every album that comes out instead of reaching into their pocket and breaking loose with a twenty!!

This is kinda like the story about the blind men and the elephant...
Consider this. As much of a Scott fan as I am, he has made comments that I don't agree with... of course, I will never know what he knows about the topic, so it is very likely that, like it or not, he is right. By the same token, he does not have the knowledge that I do...
We are both right based on our personal experiences.
We are both entitled to be stupid if we want to!
John is entitled to his point of view and his opinion. If someone does not like it, support it, or want to hear it.....don't listen to him.
