Jurched what do you think about this.

What do I think of a clever GM incentive program?

I think GM is fucked no matter how many crazy sales schemes they come up with. They won't be making money on this, even if it confuses a few more 4'9" lesbians to buy a Yukon fully loaded.

GM's boss said it himself, "I spend my whole day managing Health Care plans for millions of [lazy fat bastards].* When do I get a chance to look at a car I'm supposed to be making?"

You fuckin liberals want universal health care and universal government taking care of your shit? Look at GM. They're about to collapse into a fuckin heap, which is what's gonna happen to us if, I mean, WHEN we become the United States of Socialist Republics.

*I ad-libbed there, just a tad. He actually said "former employees."

we're on the same page, i only need to look at my father in law who is dying in the UK because of their totally fucked up "we cover everyone" healthcare system which is falling apart at the wheels from what it takes to run it.

I have a toyota and a Dodge Caravan because i have a large family by choice and dammit if someone can't get in the design field and make a suitable car for 6.

One that is 4 cylinder and flex fueled or can run on E85 or other alternatives than gas.

it CAN be done. it just won't sell because soccer mom insists on that gas guzzling SUV.

insane policies like those that GM got itself saddled with are why the Japanese build a better mousetrap.

i understand what the UAW came from for worker's rights but when that turns over to gross entitlement its totally strayed from the cause. Japanese factories here don't need unions...i've talked to people that work for Toyota and have good paying jobs and job security becuase the Japanese want them to work, and if they need more prodcution will shift an entire line to another plant to make sure people are still working.

I don't buy into unions anymore since OSHA pretty much mandates worker safety as it is, it just seems to be an excuse to bully corporate america and make everything more expensive. its the worst in the northeast especially in Philly, New Jersey and New York. its like a legalized mafia.

I used to be a telecommunications recruiter hiring guys to work for us as subcontractors, I used to have guys that were non-union come from as far as Delaware to work for us (75 miles one way) becuase of the unions and their dues, thuggery etc.

i only know from my experience in that type of environment in sales and recruiting but the union just seems to slow the nation down as a whole when they get overpaid and then want insane bennies to boot.

Uncle Sam was never designed to be a babysitter.

Actually the Japs have a pretty good union system, in that the management are personally involved and a part of it. Makes for good communication and respect between the two.

But of course, respect is a cultural thing in Japan. Could you see John Goodman types from the assembly lines bowing to his supevisors at union meetings? I thinketh not.

And even the Japanese unions managed to get sweet deals in the roaring 80s that are hard to pay out in the lackluster 90s and 2000s.

GM offered the UAW mafiosi the world in the 60s and 70s when they had the world to give. Too bad they didn't insert the clause "unless we fuck up our products and sales" after the phrase "Here's the world."

American unions are pointless nowadays because of the business-strangling laws on the books. The unions got everything they wanted, but forgot to disband afterward. I guess all those union bosses getting hold of hundreds of millions in dues every year is rather tough to surrender.

Poor darlings. I shed a glistening tear for young Jimmy Hoffa every year.

Right the japanese system isn't us versus them...its all about working together for the better of the firm and everyone has a responsiblity to make things happen.
