Just scored a Mesa 4x12!

Considering its the same price as my Framus I don't think ive stepped down. Ive browsed other forums and found quite the opposite to the Aussies and your experiences but we shall see when I post some clips.

Speaking for us Aussies. We get the opposite along the same lines as how our water swirls the opposite way down the drain. We get the same from our speakers. The speaker actually turns the air in a different direction creating a venturi-like effect which actually pulls more high frequency and white light out of the air before it hits our mics which gives us vastly different results. Don't even get me started on how our mic's deal with that. It'd be WAY over your heads.

Seriously, congrats. Horses for courses. Chimaira prefer the Trad for playing live. Recorded though it's all OS.

Ive read enough opinions on this matter, I used the term Aussies so I didn't have to type out your names, not saying your ears are backwards to the rest of the world, they just have different views.

By the way for the record, I didn't have a choice between a standard or trad cab, I had the choice between the trad or a road king cab. Its not as easy to choose specifics as much as other countries. If its good enough for Petrucci it will do me.

Congratulations!

I am one of the few who hasn't tried a Mesa oversized cab, and I just have a regular ol' cab to go with my Recto, and I have to say I love the thing all the same.

I don't do much recording with it however.

Honestly, the 400 hz thing is not a big deal since the tones I've heard are just an eq cut from being almost flawless. Guitarhack got awesome tones with the traditional and I've mentioned before that I actually like some old clips more than the new ones. For that price in the EU it's a no brainer. Congrats!

Thanks guys, yeah I really like his tones along with Marcus's *dispite him not diggin' them haha*. Im glad you understand the no brainer thing!

Nothing wrong with the term Aussies. :) As for the rest, I was just attempting humour (maybe I should not ). Horses for courses/differerent strokes for different folks/right tool for the job/.............

Which cab any of us prefer is just a matter of opinion. Either cab can do a great job for its purpose.

Again, congrats on your score. It's a no-brainer-like.

A big +1. If you just need a little tweaking in the DAW once recorded to make the tones sound that little better, then I'm down with that, as much as only having to low/high pass is great, a few db eq at certain frequencies is fine with me.

The thing is, though, there's really no eq'ing that can make a Stiletto cab sound like a Rectifier - it's not like there's just an excess of 400 that can be compensated for like turning down a knob, the whole frequency response is different between the two cabs (especially in the mids), with the OS just sounding much more balanced and clear compared to the stuffiness of the Stiletto (all opinion, of course). But yeah, I'm sure with eq'ing it could definitely be made to be workable in a mix, so the only thing that remains is whether or not a person actually likes the tone itself! (cuz I've heard plenty of tones that work in the mix but I'm not too keen on as tones), which again is strictly opinion.

Yeah I was just looking at all the back logged threads on this matter and saw how only a few months ago you said it was the perfect cab Marcus haha + "The OS being too scooped with rubbly tones" :P I also heard the Theocracy stuff and I really like it along with your clips and GH's old clips. As long as its better than my Framus *which it will be* im happy for now...until I get GAS again :)

Haha, well my praise definitely stemmed from a healthy dose of attempting to convince myself that my logic and experiences were sound, but I've since caved and eaten my humble pie :D And yeah, the Theocracy stuff IMO is a perfect example of the sound of the cab, so if you don't mind that (I kinda do, I hear the wool/stuffiness :erk: though of course not as bad as mine, cuz Matt Smith pwns), then you'll be good!

I was going to say I like sheep...but then Ste would have quoted me on that :Saint:

You watch it will arrive and it will be the Standard version, because the guy was like..."Ahh yeah I think its just the small one", even though it was presented on the website as being the Standard. I really don't mind which one turns up, both have their uses :) We agree on that!
