Katatonia ?

sounds of decay has åkerfeldt too

jhva elohim meth + dance of december souls + for funerals to come have growlyvox but it is jonas renkse

it's the original, as are all other tracks

everything on that album has rather shitty mastering though so i'd rather listen to the originals

I'll have to check out Brave Murder Day if it has death vocals. I really like Dance of December Souls, but I hate their stuff in the vein of Last Fair Deal Gone Down and Viva Emptiness. I was actually naive enough to purchase Last Fair Deal Gone Down several years ago, and to me it sounds like a mixture of Lacuna Coil and Coldplay.

I heard Viva Emptiness not enjoying it at all. I have brave murder day download listening to it for the first time yet today. I'm on the first song brave which has such a great opening riff(which repeats again around 7 minutes). This has to be mikael from opeth on vocals. Very glad I have this downloaded.

hah. brave murder day is only the best god damn album ever written. maybe you should check it out.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Brave Murder Day is good, but the original Shades of God rules all over it.

Are you talking about shades of god by paradise lost. What do you mean by 'original', is there different versions or something ?

I mean that Brave Murder Day is inspired by Shades of God in the same way that Tim Burtons version of Planet of the Apes is inspired by the 1968 original.

Except, BMD doesn't suck, but it isn't anywhere near as good as Shades of God...

I've actually only ever heard the 'clean vocal' Katatonia....I've always meant to go back and check out the first era of the band, but just never get around to it...
Katatonia were infinitely better when they actually played metal. With their new CDs, they would not be out of place on a tour with Coldplay.

Shades of God is a great CD. Mortals Watch the Day, Crying For Eternity, and Pity the Sadness are some of my favorite songs of all time.

Too right old bean!

I've just been listening to the Paradise Lost live at the BBC cd, and the last concert on there, taped just after Icon was released, is bloody excellent!

I enjoy Katatonia's newer stuff. Some nice, mellow rock for a change of pace.

Dance of December Souls is pretty good. Very melancholic and even somewhat of a black metal feel. Haven't heard Brave Murder Day.

ok the new albums are metal though? only with lfdgd did they really deviate from playing metal, and lfdgd sucks a lot
