King Diamond is the shit!!!!!!

What the hell does WoY have to do with anything?

Guys, get off it. Talk about beating a dead horse.

At least I'm posting something that actually to do with the thread.

And no one has answered my question. Did anyone likee his voice from the beginning?

I remember the 1st time I heard King. Probably 15 yrs ago. I bought all his records at the time & some of mercyful fate. His more recent records haven't been as interesting to me, but his vocal range is by far the most amazing I've heard.

i dont think its any mystery that the king diamond fans are typically the more well versed and knowledgable, where as the anti-king diamond fans are the new school Opeth fan boys whose tastes are predictable and very contemporary....to a fault.

That was possibly the most elitist thing you've said yet. And that's saying something. Well done, have a gold star!

a statistically accurate observation. if you dislike stereotypes...dont become one.

Great line.

Good to know I'm that easy to classify based on one band that I dislike (it's not even the band, it's just the singer).

Hmm i wouldnt say that people who like King Diamond have a signifcantly better taste. Because to be honest the people who do like it are into HammerFall and Manowar.. Well all the 'Rocker' kids(that i know, because obviously i dont know everyone) are all into those bands because of the 'high' vocals oh yeah and Comic store Owners love it too.

Your brain seems to have melted from King Diamonds ridiculously bad sounding high octaves.

Something I am curious about: The first time anyone here has heard this dudes singing, did they think "wow, he sounds good!" - or did it take you all hours of abuse to your ears to be able to endure it?

No u go to a king concert.

look, im just making an observation on the type of people who seem to like king, and those who dont. those who dont so far...seem to have a pretty narrow scope in most respects, and have a lot of broadening and refinement needed in my opinion. same goes for king fans in many cases too though. i just dont see the point in picking apart king diamond fans in a king diamond appreciation thread.

^ True words...

Besides, it's all the question of mistaking respect with liking... You might respect King Diamond, Black Sabbath or the Beatles for their influence on the genre and still not like to listen to them... But I do agree that people with no respect for the innovators do seem to have a narrowed scope of interest...

its remarkable, i hear about orphaned land and riverside.

I agree it's remarkable... Those two bands are at the top of the metal world...

Can't handle King Dimond due to the shitty vocal delivery... There are way too many other bands to spend time listening too!
