Krank amps

I have a Rev 1 and it rules... it's tight and thick and I just love it. I can hear how it's not for everyone though. speakers seem to make or break it more IMO

I use a Revolution in my live rig, and I love it. I agree with Mood Bender that the speakers make or break it, though (which is also true of any amp, to some extent). I generally run it through my Marshall JCM900 cab and it sounds great, but there was a show where I borrowed another guy's cab to save space for the drive over...it turned out to be a Behringer cab, and it made my tone sound really really terrible. It sounded all nasty and plastic sounding, all the tightness and fullness was gone. Then I plugged into another dude's Mesa cab and used that instead, and it sounded even better than my Marshall...

I'm lost, isn't he talking about the amp? not the cab? If the speakers in the krank cab suck why didn't you get a v30 mesa or orange v30 instead?

PS. I'm awaiting my recently ordered rev1 :)

I think you misunderstand. Aaron was just telling his experiences with his Krank through different cabs, elaborating on the comment about how certain cabs/speakers can make the Kranks sound like shit or sound amazing.

I tried a Krankenstein a couple of weeks ago and I.M.O it's the worst amp I've ever tried.
To qoute a buddy of mine who's a Krank endorser: "They sound tight, but bad", he's got an ENGL behind his stack that he's using instead :)

I have three cabs: Ampeg V4, Cobra and Mesa 2x12

Several speakers that I move around: V30, GB, V12, G12T75, GS1275

right now I'm liking my Mesa loaded with a V30 and GS1275. very complimentary speakers

What album(s) do you guys recommend to get a good impression of THE Krank sound? Because all albums I heard where I know they used Krank stuff sounded not too good to me, quite fake and lack of character.

For example, I think Nevermore's DHIADW sounds WAY better then their last album.

I like them both....I think DHIADW sounds slightly more mid rangy, but damn TGE is nicely saturated....I think we can all come to the agreement and conclusion that since both albums had Mesa Recto's....Mesa Recto's are king! lol!
