Here's a comparison of the Krank Revolution with and without a TS, in this case Maxon OD808. Both samples have completely RAW guitars, no HP/LP, EQ, etc...

Thanks to MetalJonesy for the DI's and backing track. :kickass:

Jonesy, let me know if you want the WAV's and I will upload them for you. :)

Chain was X-Amp-> OD808 (or not)-> Krank Revolution-> Mesa OS Straight-> SM57-> API A2D.

808 was set with OD at Min, Tone at 11:00 and Balance at 12:00. So not really "boosted", just a little clipping and tone shaping I guess.

I think with the TS is perfect balance with everything

You seriously have the sickest tone ever, every new clip i hear gets better and better

dude they both sound killer, you and Ryan have been getting some awesome raw tones!!!

i think i prefer the clip with the 808 alot more, it smooths off those palm mutes and its a tad less dull sounding and has a bit more upper mid bite (thats what i can gather on these hifi speakers anyway)

really awesome job, ill have to check it out when i get back to the home studio aswell :rock:

These are great tones man. They sound nice and balanced and still give a nice amount of chug.

I prefer the one with the overdrive definitely. :)

Sounds great dude, though I do feel the guitars are just a bit too loud in the mix (though since this is a showcase of them, that's of course hardly a problem :D). Definitely prefer the one with the 808; subtle difference, but that flub on those low palm mutes without the TS is the telltale sign, as well as the increased saturation on the one with the TS!

One thing though - in my tracks I usually make a narrow cut of ~1.5 dB at ~730 Hz to get rid of the slight cocked wah sound the TS imparts (I hear it a bit in your clips as well); it's well worth it for the tightness though, and after the cut everything is dandy!

tobin1 - Yes,I think the Rev benefits from the TS also. Thanks for the compliment. I WISH I had the sickest tone. I spend enough time (and G.A.S. money) on trying to achieve it.

Jonesy - Thanks dude. The nice DI's definitely help. :)

phatfil - Yes TS for sure.

LeSedna - Thanks dude. Don't worry, I don't know what the song is called or who the band is either.

demisephil - It's only 2 tracks so a blend is a little trickier than with quadtracking. Anyway, there are some 6505 versions below.

Dylan S - Yeah the Rev has a BIG chuggy bottom end that needs taming.

Metaltastic - Guitars are def too loud. A guitarists mix . I agree on the cocked-wah sound/mid-hump. Yeah, these are raw, I will try the cut you mentioned later on to hear the difference.

AdamWathan - Thanks dude . See below, 6505 Versions.

Thanks for the feedback. :kickass:

Here are some 6505 versions. With and Without TS and one With TS with the Guitars mixed a little lower. I left the first two at the same (similar peak) levels as the Krank tracks to show that the 6505 sounds louder overall due to the more compressed nature of the amp and its higher mid content (the average level is higher, peaks are the same). These tracks are RAW also.
