Krank new amp: Krank Rev SST

I think it will sound like a Maximus Distortus with a poweramp section. :) If that's good or bad is your choice! I'd still like to hear some samples!

So I guess one of the benefits of a solid state poweramp would be not having the really crank the fucker (no pun intended) to get it cooking (like you would with a tube poweramp) ?

As well as weight, reliability, and price, yeah

I guess a solidstate poweramp wouldn't be too bad these days, since we don't really rely on poweramp distortion for tone so much anymore.

the point is: all the solid state amps I ever tried (and yes even my randall T2) doesn't sound as good as my mesa and 5150 and the "fucking cheap" bugera.
When I bought the randall I wanted a different flavour, but the t2 sounds not as harsh as I expected to be, I wanted a more solid state tone lol.
Regarding poweramp distortion: yes that's true you don't rely on poweramp distortion these days, I mean try cranking a dual recto, you're gonna die way before the poweramp gets some distortion... lol hahhah
I think power tubes in the poweramp section still helps, but I won't mix a record just with a SS amp without a blend of a tube head.
I think instead of carrying my dual recto for live shows, this could be a better way to preserve my "vintage" mesa (from 1994), maybe I could trade my randall for this.... argh I need samples and maybe money if it sounds great ;)

But with the caveat that it never "gets cooking" --all of your tone will come from the preamp with no extra compression or harmonics from the poweramp. This could be good or bad but it will certainly different.

Not a bad idea to buy one of those and use it with impulses :)
No need for load, cheaper and you can gig with it.

We got one of these at work and it is FUCKING LOUD. The master goes from being barely audible to HOLY FUCK THAT HURTS in a very tiny turn

Hahaha, that was my experience with a Krankenstein when I (tried) to try one out at a local store - I didn't wanna be "that guy" that plays WAY too loud
