Bought today:

Edge of Sanity - Crimson II

Best death metal album of all-time.

Dan fucking ROCKS.

I finally got around to buying Sideshow Symphonies and The Sham Mirrors by Arcturus. The Sham Mirrors is, by far, Arcturus' best album, at least to me.

I also picked up Vertebrae from Enslaved and The Formation of Damnation by Testament over the last two months. Very good albums. I'm going to be seeing Enslaved on May 1st with Opeth in New Jersey, it's gonna rock. ^_^

I think a way to improve this thread would be to put a description next to the album, nothing fancy, maybe just something of genre or similar artists or something. A lot of bands keep popping up which I don't know anything about, and I would think the purpose of this kind of thread is to get an idea on how to expand your interests? I don't about you all, but that's how I feel...

Really nice albums, specially the live MDB and Antikosmos.

How is the new MDB? A line of deathless kings didn't impressed me so much...can you do a little review of it?

Delerium - Karma (1997)
Leftfield - Leftism (1995)
World of Warcraft - Wrath of the Lich King OST (2008)

aside from a few exceptions, I haven't really been listening to metal for several months now.. :-/

Well, I have enjoyed every MDB-album they've ever done (including 34.788), I really like "A Line Of Deathless Kings" and my least favourite by them would have to be "The Light At The End..."

First of all, it naturally sounds like MDB, it's a record full of misery, darkness, death and doom :p. The biggest news is of course that the violins are back, but I should point that they lay a bit more in the background compared to "Turn Loose-The Angel-Of The Sun".
IMO, the record is a sort of mix between these three early classics and their later material. Although not copying the past, you can clearly hear that they have been influenced by their older works. The record as a whole feels a bit short and I should point out that there are 3 out of 9 songs UNDER five minutes (some sort of record when it comes to MDB)!
As a whole, I feel that this very well might be their best since "Like Gods Of The Sun". Time may very well prove me wrong though :p, but for me personally, it seems impossible that there will be another serious contestant for record of the year.
And just for the heck of it, here's my personal toplist of MDB-records (good to base this little "review" on)

1. The Angel And The Dark River
2. Turn Loose The Swans
3. Like Gods Of The Sun
4. For Lies I Sire
5. Songs Of Darkness, Words Of Light
6. A Line Of Deathless Kings
7. As The Flower Withers
8. The Dreadful Hours
9. 34.788%...Complete
10. The Light At The End Of The World

w00t? Fejd got a new album. Gotta have it! :OMG:

Yes, it was released in Sweden, Finland and Spain yesterday (090325) and I assume that it's released in the rest of Europe now. Americans/Canadians will have to wait until 090407 though.
Oh, and it's a great record BTW!

OK, I'm listening to this on MySpace, and I'll have to track it down when it's released! It's great! I've been needing some new music lately, and this completely fits the bill.

Desire - Pentacrow (ep).

This band became on my second fav doom metal band some time ago (Empyrium is 1º always).

The music is more or less funeral doom with a lot of different vocals...all of them perfectly done and portray true emotion: growling, harsh vocals, clean whispering... and the lyrics are pure tragedy, no doubt the singer writes them.

They did a cover for a Candlemass song, called Solitude. Do I need to say their version is WAY better?

(The last part of a 3-part song)

Uaral - Lamentos (A Poema Muerto)

Chilean neo folk/(Funeral)doom band. It's hard to describe... most of time they play just acoustic instruments, but the vocals are the funeral doom kind. This guys have some Ulver and Empyrium influences, mixed with our own folklore. Still this sounds totally original. One of the 2 Chilean bands that I really like (along with Mar de Grises).

Heh, I really like writing description about the music nowaday... :)

Amorphis - Elegy (finish doom/goth/death-metal)

Cronian - Enterprise
(if you're posting on this forum - you should know this band :p)

Dia Psalma - Gryningstid (Swedish punk/folk rock. This is the third time I bought this record; first back in -94, then someone stole it from me. Last time, the record fell out a window and smashed)

Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy (if there's anyone who doesen't know about this band, you're a retard. A great record IMO)

Isengard - Høstmørke (Fenriz from Darkthrone goes folk)

Samael - Reign Of Light (Swiss goth/electro metal band. Not a very good record IMO, but it was cheap as hell)

Satyricon - Volcano (black metal, you know...)

Sentenced - The Funeral Album (ironic enough, this Finnish "suicide-metal" band released their best album ever just before they quit)

Theatre Of Tragedy - Theatre Of Tragedy (goth/doom)

Abba - "Voulez Vouls" & "Greatest Hits 2" (vinyl) - C'mon... HEY! Don't discriminate, Abba is one of the greatest bands in the world!

Tyr - "Land" - The new album was the best ever, but I heard Land and was totally blown away.

Uriah Heep - "Demons and Wizards" (vinyl) - Horns up to the masters.

Cradle of Filth - "Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder" (great improvement, by
the way, love the album!) - long time fan that has more respect for them

Lee Aaron - "Call of the Wild" - wonderful vocalist.

Sarah Brightman - "A Winter Symphony" - more of a christmas album but anything of this woman is good and I will love forever.

Vikingarna.

DRAUGEN:
Holy shit! I never knew of anybody else that listens to Dia Psalma. This is cool that you do. Do you like Ultima Thule too or like umm... Roxette?
