Last record I mixed.. (James Murphy, Jeff Dunne, Plec involvement)

The overheads are super throwing me off, the cymbals sound like they were recorded/panned way too wide. Other than that I like it.

Just a quick question about how you did it; I've noticed you write alot about your automations in your mixes on this forum. Could you please give me a quick example of any automation you've used in this track so I can try and listen to how you use it, cause so far whenwhere automation should be used just eludes me at the moment haha :)

There wasn't much on this record.

I automated a lot of vocal delay/reverb throws at the end of lines. In terms of volume automation I mostly just moved the master fader around between sections to dip or raise the volume of the mix as a whole. Had a very short time to mix this album, so it helped save time. From memory, 7 of the 8 songs were mixed in 2 days.

Sounds great! Music that made me start listening to metal, and the sound fits perfectly. I look forward to hearing it in better quality cause the Youtube compression seems to hide alot of how nice it really sounds.

Without the Youtube smear it sounds really killer. Everything is so much clearer now, night and day difference. Gonna be a great record. :)

Oh I wish they'd tune down to C#. It would mean slower tempos, more groove and I'd be able to pump the mix more easily!

This mix is a bit of a milestone in that it's the first I've done in recent time that didn't involve any instances of Curve EQ. So it was a proof of concept that I no longer need 'training wheels' to mix, so to speak.

Sorry to bump this, but another track leaked from the record. I dig this one... it's got some of my fave swells and transitions... especially the layers on the vocals. Our homage to Behemoth, if you will!

I'm headbanging in the office! :headbang: You and these guys are responsible if I get fired. :D Awesome production and band. Keep up the good work guys. :headbang:

What did James use for reamping?

Then by all means do! I don't know if the guys have worked out international distro, but if you contact them directly I'm sure they'll sort you out.

They have a merch section on their Facebook page. I'm buying it right now. It's been a long time since I stepped on a proper thrash band. Thanks again guys. :kickass:
